Ya Think Camp Casey Is For Sale?

Cindy Sheehan Quits as 'Face' of the Anti-War Movement
Fow News

Cindy Sheehan, the "peace mom" who made headlines in 2005 by staging a marathon protest outside President Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch, said Monday that she no longer wants to be seen as a leader of the anti-war movement.

In a 1,245-word missive entitled "Goodbye Attention Whore" posted on the liberal DailyKos blog, Sheehan said her campaign to end the war in Iraq had strained her relationship with her children, cost her a marriage and left her nearly penniless.

"This is my resignation letter as the 'face' of the American anti-war movement," Sheehan wrote. "I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost."

Sheehan founded the Gold Star Families for Peace after her son, Casey Sheehan, a 24-year-old Army specialist, was killed in an April 2004 battle in Baghdad. Sheehan was an outspoken critic of the Bush administration's policies and was often a target of criticism herself for visiting with leftist leaders like Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

Sheehan, however, said she had become increasingly disillusioned with the Democratic Party.

In an open letter to the Democratic members of Congress on Saturday, however, she announced that she was leaving the Party because she believed its leaders had failed to change the country's course in Iraq.

"I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican Party. Of course, I was slandered and libeled by the right as a 'tool' of the Democratic Party." Sheehan wrote. "However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used. "

Phandancer from FPM

Though it is not the same thing, I have lost two cats this week (1 had to be put to sleep and the other has been missing for several days now - had both for over 12 years) and have been feeling depressed and out of sorts - so I can understand how Cindy lost perspective and her mind. I do feel for her--- I should correct that by saying that I FELT for her -- pain.

Her pain has been used by the left and socialist groups to advance thier causes. She can be compared to the Palistinians as she is being used by a larger group to advance thier cause - at the expense of themselves.

She is as much a fool as the socialist - I can forgive her because of her pain. The others that used her....not so much.

Phandancer, excellent analogy of Cindy and Palestinians......being used, yes. I agree that her pain made her a fool, but I think she took foolishness to new heights all on her own; she's not given up her viewpoints, just upset the far left isn't left ENOUGH. She does take some blame here, and I'm sure you'd agree with that!

I'm so sorry about your cats...I lost my 21 year old last July....and her brother 3 years before. It's so painful, they become so much a part of the family.

take care. ZinLA

Thank you for the kind words.

The two we lost were our 'greybies' - our grey babies. They hung out together all the time. I miss them greatly...

Wow, big stuff on Cidys part, Mrs. Political Arbitor, Judger of the Truth. What a stupid f--king cow. I hope she gets run over by a Greyhound bus trying to cross the highway in front of the presidents ranch. It's be poetic justice. it'sd be a judgement on her. Johnnymac.
