Patriotism 101
By VerityINK

For all those d'RATS gleefully licking their chops in anticipation of a Democrat party win in '08, let me clue you in as to how a loss will be perceived by most of us on the Right. Oh, I know, your little schadenfreude-dipped hearts are hoping high dudgeon and low feelings will prevail. You hope that we will be destroyed--as utterly broken and helpless, demoralized and depressed, as you all were, and still are, about our wins in 2000 and 2004. You hope we'll be ruined. You hope we'll despair. You hope we'll crawl off into various corners clucking our tongues and saying 'gol-uh-alllllleeee, they mussa bin right all along', and 'they reely IS the bess people!' (because you'll think that's what a Democrat win will prove.)

We know better. We know that election trends run in cycles. We know that we might well fall victim to some of our own party's RINO weaknesses and scare off our own good base. We know it might just be your turn, and that the pendulum may swing your way for many reasons. Most especially do we know that there's a chance the real perverseness that is in many of you may prevail (and, the higher up, the worse it seems to get) and Hillary may be able to 'bundle' enough votes, Bammie may be able to tap into enough white guilt, and a Gore or Edwards, or other hanger-on, may be able to razzle-dazzle their way into the presidency/vice-presidency using various climate gimmicks, socialist policies, and outright lies that you'll choose to believe.

It could happen that way--and we know that. It already seems to bother you that we're relaxed about it. Oh, we know you'll focus on the most fervent rightwing pundits that will voice their upset; they'll be worried about America's safety--and with good reason. However, you'll be waiting for all the rest of us to crawl into all your newly-vacated psychiatric hospital beds on Bush Derangement Syndrome floors--and that just won't happen.

Why won't it happen? Well, for one thing, we're more grown-up than you are. We understand people, and we know that everything doesn't go our way all the time. We know that adults often take the easiest path--and that humans are very susceptible to all kinds of denial, defense mechanisms, and magical thinking. We know that those wrong thoughts often lead people to believe in the fiction of 'if we're nice, they'll be nice, too' cutesy-poo Dem diplomacy that could easily sway their votes. They might actually buy the delusion that WE did 9/11 to ourselves so intolerable is the idea that there are people out there who wish to kill us over whom we have absolutely no control. We know these fears could make them susceptible--and ripe for any plucking the Democrats might want to do. Thus, we've anticipated all your moves in advance.

The second reason a Dem win won't make us dissolve the way you all did in 2000 and 2004 is that we are stronger than you are. We believe WE are the prime movers and shakers in our own lives (and if we DO get help, it's from an authority much higher than anybody in the White House!) We know that we're responsible for the conditions under which we live--and we're not looking for any welfare payment, social program, set-aside, or affirmative action. We've already made our lives good--because WE are the ones most responsible FOR that--and who's in the White House won't have the over-reaching significance your identity politics, conspiracy theories, and vast arrogance gives it.

Politics will keep the place it's always held in our lives--and we won't be getting paid money to twist in the wind and air our nightly angst with Keith Olbermann or Anderson Cooper. We won't make seditious movies a la Michael Moore or go overseas and call Barack Obama a chimp. If Hillary wins, we won't be suggesting she get raped--the way you all did with Condoleeza Rice--or, if Chelsea is getting married, wish her bereft of kids and much unhappiness--your tokens to Jenna. We won't be holding the American flag upside down or burning it into ashes--and you'll never see the Viet Nam War Memorial defaced by a Republican while a Dem president's in office!

You'll, of course, say "with a good Demmie president at the helm we won't 'need' to do these things"! LOL! But that's not why they won't happen (and I think you know that.) The prolonged national temper tantrum you've been attempting since the 1960's won't happen because the same adults that were in the room then are in the room now, and we love and respect our country and we won't do anything to hurt it.

We know that, to the outside world, the President of the United States IS America; how we treat him is the way they will treat us. Other countries will look to see if we have enough integrity--enough honor--to respect ourselves and who we are and, if they see we have none, they won't accord us any themselves. This self respect is inimitable to our image in the world--more than any presidential act with which we agree or disagree--and it, to the exclusion of everything else, will shape how they feel about our country.

So, Demmies, Leftistas, you Americans-In-Name-Only, yes, yes... you take your win and you go ahead and feel really good about it; it is only your turn up at bat--and everybody gets one. Like parents taking their kids trick-or-treating, we will watch from the sidewalk as you ring the doorbell of your political will and we will see whether good or ill comes of it. We will be waiting with the iodine and band-aids for your inevitable fall-down-and-skinned-knee and, if the big kids get mean and steal your lunch money, you know who'll be here to make it all better: our love of country, our respect of the office of the president, our loyalty and integrity--and every last one of our brave Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines.

Great article! Yeah, they think we're going to be cryin' in our beer, but we won't. We survived 8 years of ZipperPants - we'll get by just fine.

If something DOES happen to the USA, they going to run screaming to us. They'd better hope we're on their side!

Thank you, Bob. I wanted to head off all the self-involved gloating in which the Lefties are no doubt indulging. They think they've won the world when it's simply their turn up at bat! There's still two teams in this ball game like there's always been--and we can do some awfully interesting things in the outfield!

Good points all.
They don't understand that most politicians govern between the 40yardlines anyway.

The leftists thinks everything is going to be all different with a dem president, but America is pretty much the same as it's always been.

Yes, Donal, this is one of the best lines in this incredible post you've written. No wonder President Bush is treated like such a lightweight overseas. He is treated like crap by liberals, the MSM and not a few of his own fellow Republicans.

I wonder how we would treat a shrill bitch like Hillary Clinton or a dunderhead like Barack Obama as our President. Will we Republicans show contempt and disdain for them or will we rally round the flag and respect them? If John McCain is elected, will the assault on Republican President's continue unabated?

We, as a people, have lost our class. We have no dignity, no pride and no shame. How dare we citizens, who enjoy the greatest freedom in the world, shit all over it by disrepecting our elected leader. We deserve to get less than the best in our highest office. We don't treat the President any better than a stray dog.

I am ashamed of this country.

Excellent post, Donal!! This should be published elsewhere!

Thank you, FW! Your good opinion always means so much to me! You're a wonderful thinker and I always love to run things by you.

Yes, I sure as heck hope we do better--act better--than the Democrats have if we get a Dem president. I think the thing that made me just lose my mind was the Olympia protesters here that try and block military equipment and troop transfers out here on our coast. (I know Michelle Malkin has covered it.) They haven't learned a thing!

Jeez Donal, and you say I can write! This is a spot on post kiddo. Yes, we conservatives are adults and Americans and no, we won't say and do the things you so aptly point out that the demmies and libbies do. I've often looked at this difference between conservatives and liberals and conservativism and libleralism as conservativism/conservatives are Mom and Dad and the nice home in the suburbs and liberals/liberalism are when Mom and dad go away for the week-end and the ''kids''(libs) have a few friends over and well...you know the result.:-) J'Mac.

Thank you, J'Mac--you gave me quite a boost! I'll never be the historian you are, but I guess I'll always have an opinion! LOL!

Your description of the know-nothings was spot-on! (or should I say 'right on'?)

LesterPester--misusing Hillary's name by terming it 'Shrillary' is quite a different thing than going overseas and colluding with terrorist governments, calling down America at Global Warming summits, calling the President mentally ill or drunk, leaking classified material to the NYT and WaPO, defacing the Viet Nam Wall, trying to stop military troop shipments and materiel out of Olympia, trying to defund the war just for political gain--or any other seditious, cowardly, hateful behavior that has continually been done by the Democrat party and noted Leftists everywhere. I wasn't even THINKING of the childish namecalling you mentioned--I didn't have to--your side has done much worse.

Of course there are troops fighting that are Democrat. However, you can't say President Bush's approval rating is so low--and Demmies are almost universally against him and the war--and then say 'but most of the people fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are Dems'. That just doesn't make any kind of common sense. I thought you were smarter than that, Les.

You're not going to come on my blog and spout nonsense and hurl insults. Write a decent post and it'll stay.

Les, you complete & utter moron. You asinine imbecile! How dare you compare us, the patriotic, tax-paying, contributing members of American society to the Democratic supporters of the Barack Obama campaign???

After all of the vicious, evil, vindictive, anti-American, unpatriotic attacks you liberals have hurled at President George W. Bush, we Republican Americans would be held harmless for any and all nasty rhetoric we might utilize debasing a Democratic politician. However, we know that the President of the United States is the President for all of this great nation. You Democrats aren't patriotic Americans and therefore are clueless about the proper conduct of patriotic citizens. Just shut the hell up, you jerkl!

I don't have a crystal ball to tell me who will win this election. But in my view, Hillary is not as electable as she and her fellow Dems like to think. Now, were she to put Obama on the ticket, that ticket may well carry the election.

Additionally, by the time November rolls around, the economy may well be severely depressed. In that case, Dems are typically elected to office.

Also IMO, the next elected President is going to have a rough time, on both the domestic and foreign fronts. I don't believe that the next President will be re-elected. Some conservatives have referrred to that scenario as "Jimmy Carter Syndrome."

No matter who wins the election, the other side has no business gloating!

Les, I am sick of you citing your "self-proclaimed" service to this country in VietNam and using it to attack patriotic Republicans. You sir, are NOT the only citizen who has paid a high price. I have sacrificed much the same as you. We are a multi-generational military service family.

You also dismiss, spit on hard-working Americans who pay the taxes which fund the military. They deserve your respect too, you moron. Your disdain for anyone who deigns to succeed financially in this country is DISGUSTING.

I despise everything you and your heroine, Hillary Clinton, stand for. You have the demented notion that ANY success an American achieves is because of government and that the lion's share of the remuneration belongs to that government.

Typical of liberals, you've got it completely ass-backwards. Our government succeeds or fails based on the citizens of this country, not the other way around.

Why don't you and Hillary move to f**king Russia? That's where that type of flawed thinking belongs.

You are insulted because I dare to paint you as the vindictive, arrogant, contemptuous bastard that you are???? After all of the disrespect you've directed at Conservatives here, you expect to be treated like a gentleman, just because you served in VietNam? So did that POS - traitor, John Kerry. Whine to someone who gives a damn.

You are a nobody, a nothing! A worthless pissant. Go away.

Well Les, if FW or the rest of us don't know of your service in Vietnam, who's fault is that? And as my friend Fairestwitness points out,so what? Doesn't inoculate you from criticism. Virtulaly every family in America has had family served/serving in the military and have paid the ultimate price, mine included. Who did you serve with, what was your MOS? J'Mac.

10:06 AM
Blogger FairWitness said...

Absolutely right J'Mac. Les' military service doesn't give him the license to disparage his fellow Americans. Besides, as we well know, some of those who've served aren't worthy respect and admiration, becuase they betrayed us. Like John "Liar" Kerry.

Les should let his arguments stand or fall on their own merits, not try to manipulate & bully others into silence or compliance. That's not what our military defends our way of life for.

LES--Your posts are removed, not because they contain 'facts', but because you are rude, you lie about who you are, you post under many different handles, you spout ad hominems, you don't follow the line of thought, you don't respond to the posts at hand, you post silly anecdotal 'evidence', you make excuses for all Dem Left behavior, your a small-minded and small-thinking young man.

You couldn't form a polite, decent, well-worded post if you tried. You've bought into every shibboleth and Leftwingnut talking point there is. Your posts are a virtual catalogue of useless minutia.

I have asked you time and time again to NOT insult my good long-term posters and address the article at hand and you just cannot do it. You bring up stupid examples and pointless invective. And, I am convinced that, based on everything you have said here that you HAVE LIED TO OUR FACES ABOUT ANY SUPPOSED MILITARY SERVICE IN WHICH YOU'VE SAID YOU'VE BEEN INVOLVED.

Though my posters have been kind enough to give you the benefit of the doubt, I have a near-flawless photographic memory of the things people tell me--and it's always the little things that give people away.

Your memories don't match the timeline of Viet Nam-era soldiers. You don't speak with enough authority about military things. Your casual recollection of history is not in sync with someone who surely would have to be near or over 50 years old. You don't speak in the words and idioms of someone from 'our' generation (as true baby boomers do). You don't have the manners of anyone born in the late 1950's; indeed, my posters have ALWAYS treated you better than you have treated them.

When we talk of military things, first you championed some 'cousin' or 'uncle' that had 'died in Iraq'. You wanted that to give you some ersatz-authority you evidently thought you didn't have on your own. Then, recently, you came up with this story of having 'fought in Viet Nam' yourself (I guess you figured the 'cousin died in Iraq' story wasn't enough.)

I charge that YOU HAVEN'T DONE EITHER ONE. You have come to my blog and lied about your 'service' just to try and razzle-dazzle us with your supposed gravitas--and it didn't work. I have revealed you to be some less-than-boomer hanger-on, who probably lives at home still, has no job, lives in Philadelphia, goes to Temple University--and trolls blogs to spout Lefty groupthink in his all-too-plentiful spare time.

Spend it elswhere, Les. Don't post here. You've lied to us about who you are and what you have done. You are a fraud that has been slapped down more times than I can name. You've never prevailed here--either in ethics or info--and you never will. I reserve my highest contempt for liars and frauds. You aren't fit to wipe a real Marine's boots.

Friends, when ever you're confronted with someone claiming to be ''ex-military'' ot ''I was in Vietnam, Desert Storm...'' ask them "What was your "MOS''? This stands for "Military Occupational Status'', is the peticular job you're given in any branch of the military, after basic training. Its like a belly-button in the military, everybody gets one. Oh for pete sakes, Les. You treat Conservatives like s**t. You come to this website and make disrespectful, disdainful, contemptuous and untruthful statements and accusations against us and our President and you expect to still be treated seriously and with regard???? Get real.

As for the sacrifices I've made, you don't have a clue. I've never once tied a yellow ribbon on anything, my loved ones who've served have come home from war alive. But just because they weren't killed or wounded in action doesn't mean they weren't at risk or that their contributions to this nation's freedom are worthless.

BTW, how much do you contribute to the troops fighting now? We have contributed numerous times to the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund for the children of the fallen.

Maybe I have been hateful to you, but it is in response to your continuous, unrelenting ugliness. If you don't want to get smacked back, you need to stop acting like such a jerk.
