Randi's Story Appears More Hoax Than Hurt

Randi Rhodes Is Hurt
By Talking Radio

Randi Rhodes was injured on Sunday night on 39th Street and Park Ave, nearby her Manhattan apartment, while she was walking her dog Simon.
According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was hurt pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week.

At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the injury and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.

We offer our most heartfelt sympathy that such a horrible thing has happened to this dear lady. We're keeping her in our prayers and hope she makes a complete recovery. This shouldn't happen to anyone.

*I have amended this report to reflect later reports this was not an attack but a simple accident injury. Story below:

The Real Story

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night. Elliot, who said Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack, waxed about a possible conspiracy.

“Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?” he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. “Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?”

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”

No, it shouldn't happen to anyone!
But America has become a dangerous place, and one needs to use wisdom and discretion when one lives anywhere!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

What an awful thing to happen to this lady! Thanks, Donal, for alerting us to this crime. I hope they catch the thug who did this.
Please, let us us know any updates to this story.

Randi, our hearts and prayers are with you.

What a shame. You can't even walk your dog in NYC. How awful.

Perhaps the event was caught on video security cameras and the perpetrator will be apprehended.

I will pray for her speedy recovery.

The miserable thing is that DU is apparently going bonkers, along with a fellow dj on the station...claiming that it was right-wingers who 'targetted' her!

Nobody's safe on the streets there.

I wish her a speedy recovery from this criminal attack.

Let's hope they catch the slime that did this.

Thank you, Arnold. I was dismayed to read a couple of opposite opinions at FPM this morning and it kinda made me sick... You're one of the few guys to offer your best wishes.

I know, TTMW--I KNEW they would, you did, too. They'll never believe we'd feel differently.

I have listened to Randy on several occasions (you cannot debate the other side if you do not understand them) and found her to be slightly venomous but witty and basically a nice person. Sort of like a slightly less funny and less intelligent liberal Ann Coulter.

I hope she recovers fully and I also hope that it was NOT some disgruntled conservative that did this. I hate it when conservatives give ammo to the left.

Good day to all.

If the safety is on, yes. Just don't fall on it!
Honestly, talk about jumping to conclusions, I wonder if us rightwing nuts will get an apology that is just as public and vociferous?

Latest from Fox.com, Randi Rhodes own blogsite states she was struck once, fell on her face and chipped some teeth. An employee at AAR said it was not a hate crime, as did Rhodes blog.
She did not make out a police report.

Her lawyer says she tripped while walking her dog, there were people around who came and helped her immediately. No crime.

Just so I don't look like I'm talking to the wall! LOL!
Well, apologies have been tendered!
And a fall to the face can be as nasty as a bash on the head. You can look like you've been in the wars...and lost! Chipped teeth, those must hurt. Hope it doesn't include microfissures, I have several crowns due to microfissures...ouch!

Ah, well now, I'm sorry Ms. Rhodes has been injured, having worked in NYC I can attest to the fact it can be a rough place, believe it or not though its no where near what it was in the 70's and '80s, trust me. A mugging in which nothing was taken? Possible. Did she or anyone else see someone attack her? Some nut just run up and push her down? Thats possible too. I saw something similar happen on the corner of 6th. Av(Avenue of the Americas) and 42nd.St. Stuff like that happens or she just might have tripped over her dogs leash. In anycase I hope she soon feels better, dental injuries like hers are painful indeed and maybe, just maybe perhaps this might give her a dose of humility and she'd reflect on how she once wished harm on the President, a long time ago, one of my gradeschool catholic nuns told me, John, never discount the spiritualy transforming experience of pain" A speedy recovery to you, Ms. Rhodes, sincerly. J'Mac.
