The official witnesses to Saddam Hussein's impending execution gathered Friday in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone in final preparation for his hanging, as state television broadcast footage of his regime's atrocities.
With U.S. forces on high alert for a surge in violence, the Iraqi government readied all the necessary documents, including a "red card" _ an execution order introduced during Saddam's dictatorship. As the hour of his death approached, Saddam received two of his half brothers in his cell on Thursday and was said to have given them his personal belongings and a copy of his will.
Najeeb al-Nueimi, a member of Saddam's legal team in Doha, Qatar, said he too requested a final meeting with the deposed Iraqi leader. "His daughter in Amman was crying, she said 'Take me with you,'" al-Nueimi said late Friday. But he said their request was rejected.
An adviser to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saddam would be executed before 6 a.m. Saturday, or 10 p.m. Friday EST. Also to be hanged at that time were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, the adviser said.

I'm always a little disturbed by "celebration" of a persons death.
Justice will be served in this case, but i won't celebrate, death to me is nothing to celebrate.

When the news comes, my husband will be launching some fireworks. I remember the victory dances of the Israelites, as recounted in the Old Testament, so I don't see anything distastefula about celebrating the execution of Saddam.
In the history of the world, very few verminous tyrants are actually brought to justice and thereby held publicly accountable.
Rob- When righteousness is exalted in a nation the righteous rejoice. I won't celebrate his death, but I will by glad that those who lost friends and family to his tyranny no longer have to know that he is walking around unaccountable! The sense of relief when great evil is purged from a land is like having a festering abcess lanced!
The inflammation eases, the pain level drops, the itching and tenderness fade, so when this man who sold his soul for power leaves to face his Judge, his sentencing will be swift, the sentence carried out without appeals and the punishment is forever. Let it be a warning to all evildoers!

totally agree wtih you tmw, justice will be served and that is a good thing, it's unforunate, we have yet been able to serve the same justice to Bin Laden, hopefully one day that will come, providing he is still alive.
Rob-One way or another, Bin Laden will face the Judge, and his reception will be a terrible shock to him! He has embraced the "doctrine of demons", he has caused the death of thousands, he has passed on the vitiolic hatred of satan for mankind. I do grieve over the necessaty of his death and punishment. But G*D's Creation has shouted of HIM since HE created everything. To reject HIM is to sentence oneself. To teach others to do evil and applaud when then do commit evil, well, only G*D can punish that sufficiently.
And the smoke of their(satan, the anti-christ and the false prophet) will arise before HIM FOREVER!
I would rather worship at HIS Feet, casting any crowns I have before HIM!
