Katrina NOT

"Katrina" In This Part Of the Country--DENVER NEWS:

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of Jefferson County after a snowstorm. (Unverified, but if it isn't true, by Gosh it ought to be!)

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic event; may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" ---with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

George Bush did not come. FEMA did nothing. No one howled for the government.
No one blamed the government. No one even uttered an expletive on TV. Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit. Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else. Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit, or even report, on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards. No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House. No one looted.

Nobody, I mean nobody, asked the government to do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, no Bill O'Reilly, No Oprah, no Chris Matthews and no Geraldo Rivera.

No Sean Penn, no Barbra Striesand, no Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water and sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snowbound cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people–––all of them total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes, and went out to do whatever we could, because up here it is "Work or Die".

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for government checks.

Even though
a "Category Five" blizzard of this magnitude has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves. In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 40 degrees north latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate. It does seem that way, at least to me.

I hope this gets passed on. Maybe SOME people will get
the message:

The world does NOT owe you a living.

Yep, these are the folks with whom I was born and raised; they are truly the salt of the earth. I'm sure that these people not only gave freely, they did not even have to be asked first.

I remember fishing with my dad and brother up in the Colorado mountains. We had run a bit short of supplies and Dad had rather counted on us getting a good catch of fish for dinner--but we had not. A fisherman on the same side of the lake saw our meager provisions laid out on the back of the tailgate and, without a word, he just handed my Dad his line of fish. When my Dad thanked him, he just said over his shoulder "kids gotta eat" and walked on...

Beautiful post Donal. What happened in New Orleans is the natural out growth of liberalism and its destruction of the human spirit and its engenderment of dependence on the governemnt. If everyone of those stupid blacks had been getting a paycheck instead of a welfare check, things would have been different. Its also the ''culture'' among most blacks to just sit back and bitch and moan about what they are owed. JMac.

NOLA is not part of "flyover" country, Denver is! I prefer Denver!
In fact, I prefer "flyover" country and the majority of people who live there!
When we had the 2004 hurricanes chasing us around Florida, I had neighbors that helped my son get our generator going and taught him how to feed and care for it!
2 of the men took their chain saws down the street to cut up blown down trees and branches. One of them ran hs grill every night, and it became the place to be! He even ran Christmas lights off his generator so we could see. He ran an extension cord down the street to an elderly lady, so she could have some lights and fans. You take care of each other, share your food, if you have power you let your neighbors do laundry or keep some things in your refridgerator.
It's just the right thing to do!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

It is really great that the folks in Colorado can deal with the thousands and thousands of people who are now homeless due to the blizzard; their "Katrina". All of those homes, thousands, destroyed, but somehow that didnt make the news. And not a single peep about the hundreds of lives lost. I would have never known any of this had it not been for this informative post. Thank you!

"Two U.S. legislators from Colorado want this state and others declared a disaster area by the federal government, so farmers and ranchers hurt by recent blizzards can get financial help."

Help is on the way Colorado!
