Britain’s University and College Union, representing more than 120,000 college-level educators has voted to go forward with a proposal to boycott Israeli academic institutions, according to the Jewish Daily Forward.
The Union voted May 30 to pass a motion beseeching its branches to circulate and discuss a Palestinian call for boycott of Israeli academics and universities.
Meanwhile in Britain, a coalition of Jewish groups has united to condemn the teachers union’s vote.
"The UCU boycott motion is an assault on academic freedom,” said Jeremy Newmark, the chief executive of Britain’s Jewish leadership council. "While the vast majority of academics do not support a boycott, the decision damages the credibility of British academia as a whole.”
Another recent move to exert political pressure on the Jewish state came in April, when Britain’s 40,000-member National Union of Journalists adopted a resolution calling for a boycott of Israeli goods.

Standing on all its collective shoulders the British Academic Union couldn't reach a doorknob, physically or intellectually. How important is the bloody "British Academic Union'' in relation to the state of Israel? Bunch a friggin' pgymies really. I really suggest you read Ralph Peters column in todays NY Post(NYPost.com). After I've prayed for the health and safety of my loved ones and friends( that's all of you:-), I pray that Israle will smite Iran, Syria,Egypt and Jordan of the map, every last Muslim man, woman and child, root and branch until the earth is barren and the rivers run red with blood. I'm sorry, but God Almighty, hasn't Israel put up with enough? How much must one people suffer? 6 Muslims arrested not 40 minutes from my home, planning to attack Ft. Dix( man, talk about some dumb f-king Muslims,huh?) and another bunch arrested trying to blow up JFK. Suppose one or both of these attacks had been successful, what do you suppose the tenor of debate would be in the country right now? Things are rushing toward and event horizon, something is going to happen. I hope it happens to the jihadis first. Johnnymac.
