Another Colorado Disgrace

Boulder Students To Protest Pledge Of Allegiance
By Vanessa Miller

Boulder High School students are planning a protest against the Pledge of Allegiance in the courtyard of their school tomorrow morning.

Students with the activist club "Student Worker" organized the protest for 8:30 a.m., when the pledge is recited over the intercom.

They're concerned that it takes away from school time and that the phrase "one nation, under God" violates the separation of church and state, club President Emma Martens wrote in an e-mail.

"Boulder High has a highly diverse population, not all of whom believe in God, or One God," she wrote.

She said the group would rather the school hold the recitation — which the school must make available by state law — during lunch break, or at another time when students who don't participate wouldn't have to listen to it.

This is another Colorado disgrace. First, a northern college says 'F***-You' to the President of the United States--now THIS. Times have sure changed since I grew up there. At DU, they say the 'whole state is going to go blue soon'. That, as far as I can see, will NOT be to America's advantage.

Ah, ain't this cute? Believe or not yours truly pulled a stunt like this when I was in the 8th. Hey, it was 1969, my teachers were fresh out of college hippies who hated Amerika and the Vietnam War was on, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Nor to these idiots. they might think they do and its infuriating to see this but I think if enough students and parents who don't suuport do something at least the fine young cannibals might learn actions have consequences.
