Gunman Kills Eight, Then Kills Himself, at Omaha Shopping Mall

A man with a rifle opened fire at a busy Omaha shopping mall Wednesday, killing eight people before taking his own life, police said. Five others were wounded, two critically.
WOWT-TV reported that the killer was a 19-year-old man who left a suicide note stating, "I'm going out in style." The man's vehicle was reportedly found in the parking lot.
An official identified the gunman as Robert A. Hawkins, age 19 or 20. Hawkins mother brought the note to the local sheriff's office. Sgt. Teresa Negron said the gunman killed eight people, then apparently killed himself. His name was not immediately released, and authorities gave no motive for the attack and did not know whether he said anything during the rampage.

I know, and during Christmas. He just ruined Christmas for all time, for a lot of people... Thanks for writing in, J'MAC, you're always first to offer your condolences.
I have shopped in that mall with my sister, Cindy, who lives there with her husband and children. Thank God, they're all safe. Those poor victims and their families. My heart fell to my feet today when I saw where this shooting was. I immediately go on the horn to my sister. And right before Christmas to have this happen is especially injuriously heartbreaking. All because the selfish bastard was fired from McDonalds and wanted to go out in style, to be famous ... as a damn mass murderer. What a whacked world we live in.

Oh, jeez, I didn't know you had your sis there, hon--you must've been worried. As random as that crap is, who knows what may have happened. His family must feel awful! I'm so sorry this happened!
What an asinine reason... and for what? To ruin all those lives.
He was depressed for years and was on antidepressents. That may have a bearing, along with his family rejecting him and losing a girlfriend. He was a mess.
Taking your own life is evil enough, but dragging other people into your private Hell is unconscionable.
This is the problem in a godless society, you are the center and no one else matters! And if you make others suffer, so much the better...our society is sick!
