Is This Funny To YOU?

Rape Isn't Funny

Sarah said she couldn't keep her knees from buckling and the tears from welling in her eyes when she picked up a copy of the student newspaper at Central Connecticut State University this week.Sarah, a freshman at the university who asked that her last name not be used, said she was raped when she was 15. She said all the hard emotions of her attack came flooding back to her - the shame, the rage, the despair - as she read an article in the campus newspaper, The Recorder, headlined "Rape Only Hurts If You Fight It."

"I couldn't believe the things I was reading," she said Thursday, a day after the article appeared. "I couldn't believe anyone in this day and age would write something like that, and that other people would let it be published."The article, written by opinion editor John Petroski, details several "benefits" that rape has made to civilization over the years. The article describes rape as a "magical experience" that has been a blessing to "ugly women."

What a sick young man who wrote this "satire(?)" and the editors who allowed its publication. Insensitive clods all. I'm sure they'll all go far in life, NOT. To the young woman who was so badly offended, I say this: toughen up, for there are millions of jerks in this world. You can either choose to let this traumatic event in your past ruin the rest of your life or you can choose to NOT LET IT RUIN THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Unlike the rape itself, over which you had no control, you can choose how you let it affect your life.

"a blessing to ugly women" might be the most hideous line I have ever read in my life.

I suggest somebody holds this freak down and 'does' him, huh? I'll hold one arm, may God forive me.

Donal,

How awful! Just think of how women feel when they read such crap!

I posted this article at THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS--with a hat-tip to you, of course.

How vile!

On a lighter note, I went back to read some of what I missed. One article caught my eye the most.
"Global Warming: Just Another Liberal Orthodoxy" by Chris Adamo.

For anyone who missed it, give yourself a real treat. This guy nails it!

Much better! New blogger, that is.

Re post, it had to happen. It was the inevitable outcome of viewing sex as an animal act.

P.S. FLO--a guy WAS just picked up about raping other men... that's NO LESS reprehensible than female rape!

You guys said all there is to say on that sad subject.

All I can add is -A guy who rapes should know that this can happen to his wife, mother , grandmother, daughter and sister..

Animals do not rape .They court the female they want to have babies with and wait to be welcomed.

Rapists are not even animals.

Great point Batya. The thing is this, though: during one's life many tragedies and challenges occur. Sadly, even rape. When one has been violated in such a degrading manner, the key is to not allow the rapist any additional power over your life by letting the experience ruin your life forever. You can decide to overcome this adversity and move on. Difficult, yes, but not impossible. You have to choose to stand up emotionally and mentally to your attacker and tell the son-of-a-bitch you're not going to destroy me. Win the war, even the attacker won one battle.

Yes Patsy.

The trick is to stop the bleeding right there and go on.Make this horror as short as possoble.

Patsy , you and I are branches of the same tree.

And a lovely tree it is.

TREES

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

The biggest point this idjit missed, is that rape is a power and control crime! Serial rapists usually go after women, children, or men that they can control. OR, equally important, someone who represents someone the rapist had felt powerless before, a teacher or mother. It is the ultimate of oppressive acts. And a denial of the humanity of the victim! When you are a victim of a rapist, as Ptsy says, don't give them power over your life! Then they really destroy your humanity! Which is one of the objectives.
The Boston Strangler was a good example of such a destructive personality, who acted out by victimizing women in a progressive way. Rapists are looking for control.
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Rape is a reprehensible violation of the body and soul!

What gives another person the right to force themselves into the very person of their victim?

This @sshole should pray he never knows the anguish that comes from a sexual assault... Satire my @ss!

Rowan said the controversy over the article has taught him that he and the rest of the editors on the paper might not understand the campus community as well as they thought they did.

"I don't think we appreciated the climate we're in," he said.

What, a climate with other human beings?

Long before I met my wife, I was involved in a relationship with a woman who was raped by a friend of her then husband(this happened before we met),she was not only made pregnat by the rape, but suffered a miscarrige as well. She never clamied to have ''enjoyed'' it. Whether this is satire(and poor at that) or how this person feels, I suggest bending the little git over and burying a broom stick where the sun don't shine in his world,and perhaps beating the crap out of him at the same time or perhaps have him trussed up with a knife at his throat and see if he ''enjoys'' it.
