Congratulations to the Cheneys. Mary Cheney, with all of her baggage, NEVER backstabbed her dad in the manner of Ron Reagan. As a matter of fact she has been a loyal and loving daughter. G-d bless them all!

Sorry I can't get too excited about this. I feel for our country when situations like this are commonplace.

I admire Mary Cheney, I admire the Cheneys for how they've handled her situation, but this isn't a great message. Just a personal feeling.

God bless them all, God bless the kids we have now growing up in a world like this. I'm sure I"ll be ganged up on, but i'm so tired of being politically correct.

Do I wish this child all the best, you bet. Do I wish we didn't have so many children purposefully born to families without both sexes of parents for the very best upbringing possible? you bet.

Can we just celebrate the birth of this child today and critique his family situation on all the rest of the 364 days of the year?

I, too, am sick of pc, but this was simply a birth announcement - for which we should simply give thanks.

I'M tired of all of the free-floating negativity that accompanies everything....

Thanks, Morgan. I know you would.

Cassie, I understand your kindness and your happiness at the birth of ANY child. WHile the birth of any child is joyful, I still think it's a lousy message.

This is the day to mention displeasure at a child born into this situation (imagine that I'm having to defend my stance?!! This is how far gone we are, huh?) because it'll be forgotten tomorrow.

The CHILD will never forget so many regret or decry his birth.

With the Internet, the words will always be there for him to read, somewhere, about him or his mother, his family, her partner...

By the time the child's old enough to understand, the "Susie has TWO Mommies!" books will be so popular in preschools that no child will even understand what the big hoopla was about, Cassie.

I'm not some heartless creep who wishes harm to this child. Until we take moral stands against this behavior, we're done as a society. Ms Cheney should have thought about the child maybe suffering for his own birth, not us.

Maybe his birthday will be the one day he won't have to hear it. There are 364 days left to make his life miserable...
