Get a Grip Mr. President

Get a Grip Mr. President
by J. Peter Mulhern

Scooter Libby is a convicted perjurer because the United States Department of Justice grossly abused its power and because politics short-circuited all the safeguards that are supposed to prevent such abuses. This is one of the most appalling perversions of a civilized judicial system since France sent Alfred Dreyfus to Devil's Island because the ruling elite didn't like Jews.

If the appellate and executive review processes fail as badly as the investigative and trial processes did in Libby's case, Libby will go to a federal penitentiary because Democrats don't like Republicans. There is enough shame in this outcome to go around.

The President has indicated he's going to stay out of the Libby issue. That's what led to this debacle. He must be worn out or worn down by the years of abuse from the press, liberals and conserative turncoats. Good thing about that 2 term limit. The Presidency wears a man out.

You mean he won't consider a pardon?

DONAL that was a great article. The Prez has to not only pardon Libby, he needs to make a rock solid 10 minute summation of what happened and explain how pardoning Libby DOES NOT "undermine the rule of law!" That's the road the lefty/liars are gonna take.

By doing this on national TV in a VERY logical and chronological fashion three positive things will happen. Libby will get his legal bills paid and he will get moral exoneration for the future. FitzFong and the Stalinists in the democrat party will be put ON NOTICE that we're not taking this sh-t anymore, and last but not least the conservative rank and file will once again have a champion in the White House.

Mr. Lifson--I beg your pardon for my oversight and have made the necessary corrections. Thank you for letting me know.

Hi JINGO! Yipe! I've been nailed by AmTh! I thought the URL was enough of an attribute... I wrote him.

I don't know if the prez has enough cojones to do that but, yes, he owes him that much.

I wrote Mr. Lifson too. LOL. Told him I saw the attributed URL at the bottom of the piece. Asked him if he'd overlooked it and that you always give full credit when you post someone else's column.

A link after pasting the entire article is hardly attribution. I'm sure Mr. Lifson & the author don't mind but the people who pay money to advertise on his site might.

MR. STATS--I handled the matter, as even the most unobservant person can see. I don't need you coming in here behind me nanny-babbling the thing to death. The issue was between Mr. Lifson and myself--with whom I had a very pleasant correspondence. I don't need your further imput on the matter.

When I read an article elsewhere, I always go to the original source--as do most of my readers; I obviously underestimated your ability to take iniative in doing the same thing.

Yes, Statistician, I heard back from Mr. Lifson and he explained all this to me. I hadn't realized what constituted proper attribution, being just a reader, not a blogger. As we can all see, though, the column has been corrected by this blogger and properly attributed.

Yes, Patsy, I made the mistake because, for most of my articles, I post from the same authors, so I make them their own header--and I thought, for the rest, the URL was enough. I can certainly see Lifson's point.

Satistician - you want to talk about the ARTICLE or just snat?

No harm done, and much learned. Mr. Lifson is pleased with your correction, VerityInk.

Verityink and others, no offense intended. I was just saying that copying and pasting and a URL at the end is not attribution. Again, nothing personal but it is done all over the place, not just here but in many blogs. I for one would like to see more of YOUR commentary on these articles, not just the stuff I can get elsewhere. I would bet most of your other readers (I am relatively new here) would agree. We want your spin on the news and the articles that you post

No offense taken, and you're right about Verityink's commentary, it's dynamite

STATS--Yes, I broke my arm last Aug. and it's taken awhile to heal. It makes it difficult to type well or quickly. That has greatly hampered my ability to write more or add my comments.

If you check my sidebar, there's about 20 article-length pieces I've written. I'd like to know your opinion. You'll have to post it under the current article tho (whichever is at the top of the page for the day) as I don't often go back and read the sidebar articles' comments sections past the day it was first posted.

I will say that I usually only comment when I have something in particular to say. I don't find it useful to post the same pedestrian opinion--if an article says it as well as I can, or many times better, I'll post that.

Another thing that hampers me is knowing what NOT to post, and/or gathering enough info to be informed, and the speed of the news cycle. I read upwards of 100 articles a day, I edit others for my site contributors etc., I belong to a yahoo political group and about a dozen of us have a round-robin conversation going all day, I belong to a prayer group of about 20, and I, along with my warrior-sis contributor Batya Dagan, am dedicated to the support of Israel.

That support involves educating people about Israeli-Palestinian issues, and being a bit of an activist. This means I deliberately showcase various topic from middle east news that most Americans don't see. Those articles go up verbatim--and I can add a few comments, but I am not yet skilled enough to provide a detailed analysis or form my own opinions past the usual. Batya does that, so I post HER columns instead of something I might write.

Then on top of that, I have a letter/protest campaign against Jimmy Carter. I will disseminate ALL news exposing his traitorous, anti-Semitic ass, so that people know exactly what he is--and Batya and I are going to take on the ACLU. This keeps me a tad busy...

Also, my site has the flavor of the 'best-of-the-week' because of so many of my longtime readers said they didn't have time to go through the news, the know how thoroughly I read everything, and they know I post only the best stuff.

I wish I could write more, myself. Thank you for your interest. I'd be curious to know why YOU want me to write more ;-)

DONAL I read your last comment about taking on the ACLU. I wrote a lengthy piece about those bast-rds around 2 years ago. Are you interested? If so I'll e-mail you with the info. Funny thing is, I did this while I was laid up injured at home. Kinda like you.

I'm glad that you've decided to take up this fight against the ACLU. In my opinion they are one of our biggest enemies!

Verityink, Thanks for the very nice response and I hope you are feeling better. Like you, I read alot every day although probably not 100 articles. I think the fact that you are so well read gives you an insight that many others dont have. From what I read, you are a woman, living on the west coast, involved in politics at several levels, working in academia. I think I would find your viewpoint enlightening. I read many blogs and I love the variety of opinion but most importantly what I find amazing is how one day one site might have that special insight into an issue that no one else ever saw, least of all the talking heads in the MSM. The next day it is somewhere else. The format that I like most in a blog is something like you have done on some other postings I have read; a lead in to a an important paragraph or two from another article, a link of course, and maybe some more commentary by the blogger. Keeps the copyright police happy and also your readers who get to hear your spin on the news based on everything else you have read that day. I very much like your "best of the week" concept also.
Keep up the good work.
