DU 'Does' Flag Day...

From DU: In Honor Of Flag Day...

I remember some of her glory days, when she was placed on the surface of the moon. Of course before that there was the glory she achieved saving the world from tyrants in WWI and WWII.

But those days are but mere history now, the Flag must endure the wrath of a Tyrant who is wrapped his regime in her and proclaimed that anyone against him is a terrorist. We pray there will be brighter days ahead for old glory and that she is stained any more than that which she has seen in the last several years. This is the only notice I saw up at the Democrat Underground... They celebrate Flag Day--and every other day--by hanging our flag upside down. While they supposedly 'keep' this holiday, they cannot mention any honor going to America without denigrating some aspect of the current administration.

Oh, they make a big show of saying that hanging the flag upside down isn't 'meant' to be disrespectful--that it only means someone needs help. They selfishly assume that they are at the center of the universe and their existential angsts counts more than any other.

It's pure egotism and overmuch self-involvement that fuels their every response. They view themselves as the vanguard of the next civilization--a new way of being human--that far outstrips our Neanderthal conservative agenda. No, we're everything that is wrong with America, even the entire world, and by God they are going to show us how wrong we've been, how much hurt we've caused (hence their 'distress') and they are going to set things right! Sigh...

It's too bad they have to inject themselves into the top of every situation. Without that, they just might be able to see a larger purpose, and a deeper meaning, behind those brave stars and stripes--that red, white, and blue.
