Congressional Calamities
Hatched by Dafydd

With Congress's approval rating sinking even faster than that of President Bush (Mr. 30% being overseen by Messrs. 25%), it's amusing to note that the only major piece of legislation they have managed to pass is an increase in the minimum wage... and that came as a rider to a bill that caved to Bush on Iraq war funding.

But of course, it's not that the Democrats have been slacking off; they've been beavering away at vital business of the people:

"They've launched over 300 investigations, had over 350 requests for documents and interviews and they have had over 600 oversight hearings in just about 100 days," [Administration spokesman Scott] Stanzel said.

Democrats were dubious of the figures but did not offer their own.

"His numbers are as faulty as the intelligence they used to make their case for war," said Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. [Jim Manley is the spokesman for the forceful and muscular Reid; don't giggle.]

Ooh, snap! Of course, it's undercut a bit by the fact that the Democrats don't even know how many investigations they have initiated.

Let's have some fun with numbers. In their first 100 days of operation, the Democrats have averaged:

--Launching three new investigations a day, every day;
--Make 3.5 requests for documents and interviews per day, every day;
--Hold six "oversight hearings" per day. Every day.

Assuming Congress works a generous 8 hours a day (heh), that's one new investigation initiated every two hours 40 minutes, another subpoena filed every two hours 17 minutes, and an "oversight hearing" exploding every hour-twenty... all day, every day.

Thank God Majority Leader Harry "Pinky" Reid (D-Caesar's Palace, 90%) and Squeaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Haight-Ashbury, 95%) are fulfilling the traditional Democratic role of looking out for the little guy!

This was charming, no doubt; but they shortly found out
That the Captain they trusted so well
Had only one notion for crossing the ocean,
And that was to tingle his bell.
-- "Lewis Carroll," the Hunting of the Snark: an Agony in Eight Fits, fit the second.

Good Morning Donal:

This blog has some fantastic writing and great inside information, too. The info about why the Iraqi Army battalions are now less able to operate independently was very telling.

That info was in the piece about Senators Warner and Lugar and their bill to relieve President Bush of his Commander-In-Chief position.

He's right about our Democrats in Congress and how hard they're working at getting nothing done, which may be a blessing. Good grief. Love the nickname, Squeaker of the House! Hehehe.

BTW- I found this blog by way of Tom DeLay's blog. He has a list on his blog of other conservative blogs and some of them are really good. That's how I found Big Dog, too. Some great words coming from there.

BTW-II - You should contact Mr. DeLay about getting your blog listed on his conservative list. Your blog is every bit as good, if not better than some of these others I read.

Another thought...this is my favorite blog too. I enjoy the comments, the graphics, the videos, and the great news blurbs. I look forward to the Goodnight and Good Morning.

What new surprises will Donal bring us?

I will never forget the 4th of July parade and picnic and music. There was nothing like this anywhere on the Internet.

Well, folks out there wanted the Dems in control of Congress and this is what we got. Just as we let them know how we felt about the ''shamnesty'' bill, we should get back on the phones and tell these sobs just who it is they work for and if the don't get on the stick, they're out of a job. J'Mac.

Catfleas and Patsy, I've been good friends with Donal for over five years now and I'll tell you this gal has got a heart as big as all out doors. "Yofi'', as batya calls her,which is Hebrew for ''beautifull'' has not had an easy life. But she has a tremendously good and loving heart heart and is always there for her friends. Just stop and think for a moment if this blog wasn't here. None of us would be getting to know each other and share our thoughts and friendship. In the movie "Its a Wonderful Life'', George Bailey is shown what life would have been like had he ''never been born'' as he wished. The angel "Clarance'' shows him and tells him, "One person, removed from life leaves a big hole in the lives of many others''. To me Mrs.D is our George Bailey. J'Mac.

J'Mac, you have captured Donal exactly. Wonderful ananlogy comparing her to "It's A Wonderful Life" and the main character, George Bailey. I love that movie. You are right about the blog Donal has created & the opportunities it gives us all to share our lives.

Patsy, you're a gal after my own heart! You give to everyone around you, every single day--you too are a dear friend of mine! Thank you and J'Mac so much; the news has been hard to take this week especially--I really appreciate the words from your heart. I needed a boost this week!

Thank you sissy catfleas! (Your fleas are my fleas!) You know what you mean to me! (wink) We've been best friends for ages! We'll ALWAYS be best friends ;-)
