The Marital Strife and Driving Ambition Of Hillary Rodham Clinton

The Marital Strife and Driving Ambition Of Hillary Rodham Clinton
By Peter Baker and John Solomon

Two new books on Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York offer fresh and often critical portraits of the Democratic presidential candidate that depict a tortured relationship with her husband and her past and challenge the image she has presented on the campaign trail.

The Hillary Clinton who emerges from the pages of the books comes across as a complicated, sometimes compromised figure who tolerated Bill Clinton's brazen infidelity, pursued her policy and political goals with methodical drive, and occasionally skirted along the edge of the truth along the way. The books portray her as alternately brilliant and controlling, ambitious and victimized.

The Clinton campaign has nervously awaited publication of the books for fear they would include a bombshell revelation or, at the very least, revive memories of less-savory moments in the couple's rise to power. The books, both by longtime journalists and both obtained by The Washington Post yesterday, include a number of assertions and anecdotes that could confront her campaign with unwelcome questions.

Ms. Hilly, you tolerated a philandering husband who's every "move" will stick like glue to your name! You've been hit by taggers!

She's even more power-hungry and ruthless than I had imagined.

Of course she is! And it is partly because she couldn't "control" her husband, or HOLD HIS INTEREST SEXUALLY AND INTELLECTUALLY!
Very much what G*D said to Eve after the Fall, "You will desire your husband." In other words you will seek to rule him because he was weak and didn't protect her! If you can't trust your husband to do the right thing, you try to make him!
She was a fool to not lower the boom on him, and think she could get away with blackmailling him!

funny, how each republican running for president except Romney has had more divorces than the ENTIRE field of Democrats. Wonder why? Maybe family values? Maybe that is why Massachusetts has the 2nd lowest divorce rate in the USA and Florida has the worst.
Just wondering...

Is that true about Mass, les? Maybe it's because people just live together? I don't know, but it's interesting.

The funniest line I've heard about the Republican lineup and this "Anti Mormon" stuff is that "Romney's the only guy who HAS had the same wife for thirty years!" cracked me up!

You know, Hillary seems to me like a sad figure lately. I have never admired her, except I think she did raise a daughter who seems very confident and poised, but lately I'm getting to think she herself is doubting herself. I don't know why I feel that way. To think of a woman who constantly has to watch every single thing she does or says, to think she'd want to change America so very, very much from what AMerica was founded as, to think she has had to morph into someone with sudden Jewish ancestors for pandering, someone who suddenly loves the Yankees when she's been a Cubs fan all her life, who adapts Southern accents, and then has the hypocrisy to speak against church/state and how Republicans shouldn't campaign in churches and then appear in churches herself just to nab more of the black vote..

I'd hate myself. just the ickiest feeling when I think of what goes on in her mind. All for power. scary.

Les, I'd rather have a hundred divorces than the type of marriage that Hillary has.

Being a whore for political power and ruthless ambition and the desire to control people is NOT exactly a selling point for family values. I guess Bill has them all... s/

les-I don't know about Florida, EXCEPT a lot of people constantly move here! And they bring their problems with them!
I've never been divorced, I have had 1 husband and he died of cancer, so your implication was specious!
Hill and Bill have a political marriage, it's all about power.
