Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) leveled a personal attack at radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh from the Senate floor on Monday.
In a speech blasting Limbaugh for his "phony soldiers" comment, Harkin concluded, "Well, I don't know, maybe he (Limbaugh) was just high on his drugs again. I don't know whether he was or not. If so, he ought to let us know, but that shouldn't be an excuse. "I want to make it clear that I respect Mr. Limbaugh's right to say whatever he wants, but we also have a right," Harkin said. "We have a right not to listen to him. I think the best thing to do for him is tune him out. Just tune out Rush Limbaugh and listen to more responsible talk show hosts in this country."
Three years ago, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) introduced an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2005 Defense Authorization bill, calling on American Forces Radio and Television Service to provide "political balance" in its public affairs programming.
It was part of a liberal effort -- spearheaded by Media Matters for America -- to remove Rush Limbaugh's radio show from taxpayer-funded Armed Forces Radio.

The stupid, unprincipled, ethically-challenged Democrats can't whip us with plans, strategies, intelligence, values--or the truth--so they just make it up as they go along and perpetrate any amount of fraud and lies.
Here, this bit of dog-squeeze Harkin shows his great dedication to truth, fairness--and Demmie 'love' and 'tolerance'--as he DELIBERATELY LIES about Rush Limbaugh and then tries to prove it, and justify it, by smearing Rush with his past battle against prescription painkiller overuse. What a guy this Harkin is!
Instead of lauding Rush for fighting a manful battle against addiction and having won it, overcome it, and taken thorough responsibility for it (more than any Demmie has done!) Harkin, instead, tries to slap Rush across the face with it in a nasty, scurrilous attack.
Sen. Harkin, you didn't make your point, or show yourself to be the same kind of man Rush Limbaugh obviously is--you fell on your face and disgraced the good people of Iowa who elected you. Now, get off the dias and quit trying to garner your Warhol-15; you've embarrassed your party--and ALL Americans--enough.

I do not get this dog and pony show these Democrats are play-acting. They think we're stupid enough to be distracted from their real outrage with MoveOn.org's General Petraeus ad? This is so transparent it should be a picture window.

Well, I think his attack was unconscionable! I mean, if you have a beef with Rush at least call him on it squarely--that was just lousy what Harkin and Reid both did.

Well done DONAL! You saw this for what it was, a STALINIST attempt at lying and smearing, and all in an effort to silence political opposition.
I actually heard the initial radio conversation, so hearing the Democrat response to it was rather flabbergasting to say the least.
Rush talked to the caller at length about these soldiers who claimed to have seen atrocities but didn't, and then the soldier (McWhateveraslongasyouholdtheonions) who was just recently exposed as a PHONY who was washed after 6 weeks of Boot Camp!
It was obvious to me and other listeners that the topic was fakes and frauds. NOT legitimate soldiers who have differences of opinion. I hate these people with every fiber of my being. They are revolting liars who MUST be exposed.
