THIS Is the Way...
Last week, the Iraq Study Group told the President and the nation that we need to prepare for retreat from Iraq. In their numerous recommendations, there are none that are directed towards actually winning the present conflict, and the mainstream media has done a yeoman's job of convincing the American public that the war in unwinnable. It seems clear from comments made by policymakers of all stripes in recent days that a retreat from Iraq is inevitable.
This retreat, of course, plays right into the hands of the very terrorists we went to Iraq and Afghanistan to defeat. Furthermore, it strengthens the hand of our avowed enemies in the Middle East (the list too numerous to mention here). If the Iraq Study Group's recommendations are implemented and their cut-and-run plans are followed, when the terrorists are in control of Iraq and our standing in the Middle East reduced to nil, the long-term consequences will prove disastrous.
Permit me, if you will, to make a completely out-of-Left-field suggestion, one I doubt will ever be entertained inside the Beltway, will quickly be the laughingstock of military planners at the Pentagon, and will certainly be anathema to the Manhattan media establishment and the Democratic congressional majority. I would like to suggest that there is a way for us to leave Iraq honorably, take back the offensive in the War on Terror, and weaken our enemies such that it will take more than a decade for them to recover.

Hoowee! YES - this is the way to retreat!
March toward the Indian Ocean, sort of, and catch Pakistan and Iran together!

Under the weather, RSV.
Oh dear--I'll be praying for her, TMW!
I doubt a march to the Med is in the picture but Bush seems to have decided on the "Go Big" path. It was one of Rumsfeld's suggestions in his departing memo. Bush says he won't disclose his decision until January but an additional 40,000 to 60,000 troops are being mentioned at various blogs. There will be more large-scale military sweeps than in the past and stepped-up border protection.
The Pentagon has, supposedly, given its approval for the change in tactics. Al-Sadr has become a major target in the new plan, too. I hope they take out the other Shi'a militia leaders, as well, since some of them have even closer ties to Iran than al-Sadr.
As long as we don't throw in the towel, that's great. I'll have to go to DU and see how they piss and moan...
Donal- I got RSV, respiratory synovial(?) virus, upper respiratory. Not horrid, but the fever was wiping my mind! Anyway, I think I'll lick it fast, but today's not fun! Nanc's got bronciolitis or some such nonsense, so we are doing the cough and sneeze thing.
We'll live, but there might be dead bodies if we get bothered!
And thanks for the prayers!

You poor thing--I just sent a note over and some chicken broth....
The broth is yummy, what's the recipe?
Chicken soup, especially the garlicy kind, kills what ails you!

We have met the enemy and its us. The Iraq surrender group says "Lets cut and run''. Just the signal the jihadis would need to see our lack of resolve. When asked recently what would follow were we to pull out of Iraq,Gen. Tommy Franks said,"They'll follow us over here''. I don;t know whos idea this ''study groups'' was but who ever it was is a total moron. J'Mac.
Personally I am very thankful to the BAKER AND LOSERS CO. for their advice on Iraq.
Their plan actually told us what NOT TO DO and now we are doing all the right things and we are on the right path.
Thanks again
