TOO FUNNY! Heeeeeeee're's A New Annie!

Liberals and the Woman Who Hates Them

Uttering lines that send liberals into paroxysms of rage, otherwise known as “citing facts,” is the spice of life. When I see the hot spittle flying from their mouths and the veins bulging and pulsing above their eyes, well, that’s when I feel truly alive. This happens, I dearly hope, once a week when my column is released. But the public gnashing of teeth that I incite occurs approximately every six to eight months, which is rather peculiar, since I believe I annoy liberals much more often than that.

Liberals’ response to unbridled right-wing speech makes the Muslims look laid back. Reacting with stupefied indignation whenever someone disagrees with them—especially in a way that makes people point and laugh at liberals—they seem to be in a constant state of outrage. Liberals, and the conservatives who fear them, have a look of perpetual outrage, kind of the way Nancy Pelosi has a look of perpetual surprise.

About twice a year for nearly a decade, I have upset the little darlings with some public statement, and yet they manage to summon fresh outrage for each new offense. Each time they think I can’t “sink any lower”—I proceed to do so! And by the way, if they’re going to keep using the tired formulation “This time, she’s gone too far!”—can I get an admission that the last sixteen times were, therefore, not “too far”?

Here's Your Sunday Steyn!

Democracies Talk, Tyrannies Act

"I'm proud of my university today," Stina Reksten, a 28-year-old Columbia graduate student from Norway, told the New York Times. "I don't want to confuse the very dire human rights situation in Iran with the issue here, which is freedom of speech. This is about academic freedom."

Isn't it always? But enough about Iran, let's talk about me! The same university that shouted down an American anti-illegal-immigration activist and the same university culture that just deemed former Harvard honcho Larry Summers too misogynist to be permitted on campus is now congratulating itself over its commitment to "academic freedom."

True, renowned Stanford psychology professor Philip Zimbardo is not happy. "They can have any fascist they want there," said professor Zimbardo, "but this seems egregious." But, hey, don't worry: He was protesting not Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's presence at Columbia but Donald Rumsfeld's presence at the Hoover Institution.

At some point during this past week, it was decided that the relevant Ahmadinejad comparison was to Nikita Krushchev. The Soviet leader toured America in 1960, was taken to a turkey farm, paid a visit to Frank Sinatra and Co. on the set of "Can-Can" and pronounced the movie "decadent." And yet the republic survived.

As one of my most distinguished fellow columnists, Peggy Noonan, put it in the Wall Street Journal, Krushchev's visit reminded the world that "we are the confident nation." And, as several e-mailers observed, warming to Noonan's theme, back then hysterical right-wing ninnies didn't get their panties in a twist just because a man dedicated to the destruction of our way of life was in town for a couple of days.

America's Everlasting Shame: Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter Steps Into the Hollywood Spotlight
By Michel Comte

Former US president Jimmy Carter joined the ranks of movie stars at the world premiere of "Man from Plains," the biopic about his life, which premiered Monday at the Toronto film festival.

The documentary by Academy Award-winning director Jonathan Demme ("The Silence Of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia") follows Carter on a promotional tour eight months ago for his controversial book "Palestine Peace, not Apartheid."

My Letter To Jimmy Carter:
Jimmy Carter,

You are a disgrace. Your book Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid has been called a fabrication, an invention, and a fantasy by your own colleagues. You have deliberately lied--simply to hurt the Jewish people and the state of Israel. You have done it under the guise of engendering debate--and then have been too chickenhearted to debate Alan Dershowitz on the matter (all the while calling him stupid! Were that the case, then you could easily have beaten him and demonstrated the truth of your own words and the superiority of your position. One HAS to wonder why you won't do that... and we know why.)

The weakness of your position has been well-documented elsewhere. Every time you open your mouth, you prove the smallness of your heart, the lack of commitment to truth, and your purposeful ugliness: I am not a "representative of Jewish organizations", nor do I have "knee-jerk reactions" (thanks for dismissing my very real and justified outrage over your conduct.) In fact, I am not Jewish at all. I have the best reason of them all for despising your work and naming it as a source of shame; no self-interest can be said to interfere with my judgements. I could turn a blind eye and who would know?

The same person would know who knows of your calumny and betrayal: the Jews, Israel, and God Himself. That is enough for the rest of us to say, 'What you are doing is wrong. You have lied. You owe the world an apology. You owe the Israelis and all Jews MORE than an apology--and you need to spend the rest of your life making up for the bitterness, hate, and anti-Semitism that poisons your own soul, shames America, trashes your legacy, and hurts all of mankind. Then you need to shut up and sit down. You have done enough damage in your life for a thousand Hitlers.

You disgrace the office of the Presidency. You disgrace your family and the Carter name. You disgrace all those who were stupid enough to elect you to high public office. Your legacy will always have a swastika around it's neck. With what ignominy will you leave this earth! A decent person would be ashamed; America is ashamed of you because you lack the courage to be ashamed of yourself. Your last acts on earth have been your worst; you need our prayers and a forgiveness for which you have not asked. I cannot give you either one.

I shall spend every moment I can publicly proclaiming you (the CensureCarter.com bumpersticker is permanently on my sidebar) to be exactly what you are: a bitter, unkind, unthinking, unfair anti-Semite.

VerityINK/DONAL

I sent this letter to Jimmy Carter, every Jimmy Carter website--and every office of Habitat For Humanity I could find...

Justice Gore; Fairy Story Or Nightmare?

FROM DU: Gore IS Running, But Not For President:

Al Gore is not going to run for president, nor is he going to support any last minute petions to get him on the ballot. Al Gore is a good politician, 2years ago when the first 'piggybanks' started filling with IOU's Hillary was formidable. To take on the Clinton's, in a rough and tumble would be self defeating.

No, Al has his eye, on what he considers a much higher post. Al Gore wants to be on the Supreme Court! By not running against Hillary he gets a HUGE IOU. By not being overly supportive, and endorsing too soon, he preserves an aura of separation from her so that, when nomination time comes around for the open slot on the court, Al Gore will face no open opposition and will still have the publics complete trust and confidence.

Politics is a long-winded thing, the average American cannot grasp it. Yet, stop and realize that the current crop of zealots and the incompetents they put into office have been planning this for nearly thirty years. Al Gore for SCOTUS! I can live with that. (Didereaux)

DU Chimes In:

--I could live with that. Hell, I'd give up a heck of a lot for that. Gore gets what's going on... I'd actually TRUST him on the SC... unlike ANY of the fuckwads there now. And I mean ANY.

--That would be awesome... I've been disgusted by them for years... even before the current crop of jackbooted jurists.

--This is an interesting thought... And one that I could certainly get behind... He is without question the most and best qualified for SCOTUS... That might be even more important than being President...

--I like it. The very institution that denied him the presidency. They would have to look him in the face every morning!

--I didn't know that but, where Al Gore is concerned, I am more than happy to learn it. That being the case, I would love to see him get a seat on the high court. We desperately need someone with his abilities and his sensibilities in that position.

--He apparently did attend law school at Vanderbilt but left without a degree to run for a seat in The House. (But) there is no requirement to be on the SCOTUS involving having passed a bar, nor even having a law degree. That is something that has merely become 'traditional'. There have been several academicians appointed over the decades. Some have excelled.

--The total effect is that one person, with good legal skills, good instincts and excellent political skills can turn this court from a 4-4-? to a solid 7-2 court. Go Al!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1937641

Yep... this is what the Democrats think is a good idea--to have this global climate catastrophe hypocrite on the Supreme Court! They can't see past their own fantasies of revenge for a presidency they imagine stolen. These Demmie flipdips try and make it seem like Gore left law school because of his 'career in politics', but it's obvious he just couldn't cut it there.

I can't imagine him anywhere near the judicial branch of our government--or, actually, any branch at all. Beware the plans laid by mice and men--believe me, these are the MICE!

U.S. Missile Defense Test Successful

A ground-based missile successfully intercepted a target missile Friday in a test of the nation's defense system, the Missile Defense Agency said.

An intercontinental ballistic missile interceptor blasted out of an underground silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base shortly after 1:15 p.m., and tracked a target missile that had lifted off from the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska, the Boeing Co. said, in a statement.

The Missile Defense Agency said initial results show the interceptor's rocket motor system and kill vehicle performed as planned. Boeing said the warhead was tracked, intercepted and destroyed.

Boeing is the prime contractor for what is formally known as the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system. The MDA expects to invest $49 billion in ballistic missile defense development and fielding over the next five years. Two operational interceptor missiles are currently based at Vandenberg and there are 11 deployed at Ft. Greely, Alaska.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: Anatomy Of (Another) Smear

Anatomy Of (Another) Smear
By Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: I want to illustrate something for you today, folks. I've done it before. I want to do it again. I call this the anatomy of a smear, and what this is is a great illustration of the liberals and the Democrat Party playbook for '08, which is underway now.

The morning update on Wednesday dealt with a soldier, a fake, phony soldier by the name of Jesse MacBeth who never served in Iraq; he was never an Army Ranger. He was drummed out of the military in 44 days. He had his day in court; he never got the Purple Heart as he claimed, and he described all these war atrocities.

He became a hero to the anti-war left. They love phony soldiers, and they prop 'em up. When it is demonstrated that they have been lying about things, then they just forget about it. There's no retraction; there's no apology; there's no, "Uh-oh, sorry."

After doing that morning update on Wednesday, I got a phone call yesterday from somebody, we were talking about the troops, and this gentleman said something which you'll hear here in just a second, prompting me to reply "yeah, the phony soldiers."

That comment, "phony soldiers" was posted yesterday afternoon on the famous Media Matters website, which is where all leftists go to find out what I say. I have a website, and I have a radio program that reaches far more people than Media Matters could ever hope to, but the critics of this program never listen to this program. They never go to my website. All they do is read Media Matters and they get the lies and the out-of-context reports. They assume it's all true because they want it to be true, and then they start their campaigns.

This has led to me being denounced on the floor of the House. Howard Dean has released a statement demanding I apologize; Jim Webb; John Kerry issued a statement, three Congress people went out on the floor of the House last night and said some things, and it's starting to blossom now in the Drive-By Media. So this is the anatomy of a smear, and this is how it starts.

Clinton: $5,000 for Every U.S. Baby
By Devlin Barrett

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.

The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States.

Pelosi: Sadomasochistic Last Supper Ad Doesn't 'Harm' Christianity
By Nathan Burchfiel

A controversial advertisement for a San Francisco festival that depicts the Last Supper as a sadomasochism party falls within the First Amendment and is not harmful to Christianity, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday.

The ad for the Folsom Street Fair - to be held in Pelosi's district on Sunday and which is partly funded by San Francisco's Grants for the Arts program, which is funded by the city's hotel tax - sparked outrage from Christian groups because it mirrors Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting of "The Last Supper" but replaces Jesus and his apostles with scantily leather-clad men and women sitting at a table adorned with sex toys.

A spokesman for Pelosi told a San Francisco publication yesterday that the ad would not harm Christianity. Cybercast News Service put Pelosi herself on the spot at a news conference in the U.S. Capitol Friday. Here's the exchange between the reporter and Pelosi:

CNSNews.com: "I'd like to get local for a second and talk about what's going on in San Francisco. Your spokesman told the Bay Area Reporter that the Folsom Street Fair advertisement mocking the last supper would not harm Christianity. I'm wondering if you find the advertisement personally offensive.""And as a follow up, the city's Grants for the Arts program, funded by the city's hotel tax, subsidizes the fair. Do you think that it's fair to tax everyone who visits San Francisco and stays in a hotel to support the fair?"

Pelosi: "Well that's not really a local question. That's a constitutional question. That's a religious question. That's as big a global question as you can ask. I'm a big believer in First Amendment and therefore, as I said in my statement, I do not believe that Christianity has been harmed by the Folsom Street Fair advertising."

Kennedy 'Humiliates' Soldiers To Further Homosexual Rights
By Bob Unruh

Sens. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and Gordon Smith, R-Ore., have trashed the collective reputations of millions of U.S. military service members in order to advance their "hate crimes" legislation, which would make it a crime to utter a negative opinion about homosexuals or their lifestyle, a pro-family group says.

The U.S. Senate yesterday approved an amendment by Kennedy and Smith to install in federal law a ban on such expressions of religious and personal opinion. The amendment was added to the Department of Defense Authorization bill, which is needed to keep funding worldwide U.S. military operations.

"[The] senators humiliate[d] our brave men and women in uniform by alleging that America's military is a haven for bigots committing 'hate crimes'," said Wendy Wright, the president of Concerned Women for America.

MUST READ: Let Us Not Be Deceived

Ahmadinejad's Holocaust Myths
By Alan M. Dershowitz

In his speeches, most especially the one at Columbia University, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeats two myths about the Holocaust. The first every reasonable person knows is a total lie: namely that the Holocaust did not occur. The second myth, however, is one that escapes critical attention for the most part, because many people are not aware of its falsity.

The myth is that the Palestinian people and their leadership had absolutely nothing to do with the Holocaust. The conclusion that is supposed to follow from this “fact” is that the establishment of Israel in the wake of the Nazi genocide of the Jewish people was unfair to the Palestinians. This is the way Ahmadinejad put it in his Columbia talk.

“…[G]iven this historical event [the Holocaust], if it is a reality, we need to question whether the Palestinian people should be paying for it… “The Palestinian people didn’t commit any crime. They had no role to play in World War II.”

These statements about the role of the Palestinians are demonstrably false. The truth is that the Palestinian leadership, supported by the Palestinian masses, played a significant role in Hitler’s Holocaust. The Palestinian leader at the time was Hajj Amin Al-Husseini, the Grand Mufit of Jerusalem. As Professor Edward Said has acknowledged:

“Hajj Amin al-Husseini represented the Palestinian Arab national consensus, had the backing of the Palestinian political parties that functioned in Palestine, and was recognized in some form by Arab governments as the voice of the Palestinian people.”

Husseini was “Palestine’s national leader” and it was in that capacity that he made his notorious alliance with Hitler and played an active role in promoting the Holocaust. Here is the true story that Ahmadinejad tried to mythologize.

Haj Amin al Husseini

The Arab population from 1920-1930 generally reaped the benefits of Jewish immigration, and did not oppose the establishment Jewish National Home.

Yet there was one man who attempted to breathe life into a national movement: this was the Mufti, Haj Amin al Husseini. The Mufti knew that nationalist slogans alone would not succeed in uniting the masses against Zionism. He therefore turned the struggle into a religious conflict. He addressed the masses clearly, calling for a holy war.

His battle cry was simple and comprehensive: "Down with the Infidels!" From the time Herbert Samuel appointed him to the position of Mufti, Haj Amin worked vigorously to raise Jerusalem's status as an Islamic holy center. He renovated the mosques on the Temple Mount, while conducting an unceasing campaign regarding the imminent Jewish "threat" to Moslem holy sites.

Using Islam as a basis for preventing Arabs from recognizing any sovereign right of Jews over the Land of Israel is new. Such beliefs are not found in classical Islamic sources. Concluding that anti-Zionism is the logical outgrowth of Islamic faith is wrong. This conclusion represents the false transformation of Islam from a religion into a secularized ideology.

Such a false transformation of Islam was in fact made by the late Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin el-Husseini. He is the one person most responsible, both morally and materially, for the repeated Arab defeats in their conflict with the Jews in Israel. Husseni not only incited Arabs against Jews. He also encouraged the torture and murder of all Arabs who correctly understood that Arab cooperation with Jews was a precious opportunity for the development of the Land of Israel. Husseini ended his woeful life by putting his perverted religious teachings at the service of the evil and pagan Nazis.

After Husseini came Jamal al-Din 'Abd al-Nasser. Nasser based his policy on Pan-Arabism, hatred and contempt for Jews, and an alliance with the atheistic Soviet Union. Nasser's terrible choices were critical factors in maintaining Arab backwardness. Fortunately, most of Nasser's mistakes were afterward corrected by the martyr Anwar Sadat.

After the defeat of Nasserianism, Islamic fundamentalist movements made anti-Zionism the primary feature of their propaganda. They presented the negation of any Jewish rights to the Land of Israel as rooted in authentic Islam and derived from authentic Islamic religious principles.

Shaykh Prof. Abdul Hadi Palazzi The Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini was later the notorious Nazi who mixed Nazi propaganda and Islam. He was wanted for war crimes in Bosnia by Yugoslavia. His mix of militant propagandizing Islam was an inspriation for both Yasser Arafat and Saddam Husein: He was also a close relative of Yasser Arafat and grandfather of the current Temple Mount Mufti. "Arafat's actual name was Abd al-Rahman abd al-Bauf Arafat al-Qud al-Husseini. He shortened it to obscure his kinship with the notorious Nazi and ex-Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini."

Howard M. Sachar, A HISTORY OF ISRAEL (New York: Knopf, 1976). The Bet Agron International Center in Jerusalem interviewed Arafat's brother and sister, who described the Mufti as a cousin (family member) with tremendous influence on young Yassir after the Mufti returned from Berlin to Cairo. Yasser Arafat himself keeps his exact lineage and birthplace secret. Saddam Hussein was raised in the house of his uncle Khayrallah Tulfah, who was a leader in the Mufti's pro-Nazi coup in Iraq in May 1941.

I hope that everyone has a look at this--and a good read. I certainly learned something today. God Bless those of you who have already schooled yourselves in this. Please go to the website at the bottom and learn even more (I cannot post it all--and I hope I may be forgiven for posting as much, but this is too important.)

Thanks be to Alan Dershowitz, FPM, and the EretzYisroel.Org site, for telling us what we already should have known.

Rep. Pelosi Criticizes Border Fence
USAToday

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called a plan to build fencing along parts of the Mexico border a "terrible idea" that overlooks local communities.

Pelosi made the comments during her trip to the Rio Grande Valley for the annual Hispanic Engineering, Science & Technology Week conference at the University of Texas-Pan American.

"I have been against the fence, I thought it's a bad idea even when it was just a matter of discussion," said Pelosi, D-Calif. "These are communities where you have a border going through them, they are not communities where you have a fence splitting them."

Last year, President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act requiring the construction of fencing along the 2,000-mile border. The plans call for about 370 miles of fence and 200 miles of vehicle barriers, including concrete barriers, by the end of 2008.
Pelosi also touted legislation known

What They Don’t Want You To Know About The Jena 6 Case

What They Don’t Want You To Know About The Jena 6 Case
By John Hawkins

In either case, there are other scrapes that members of the Jena 6 got into that haven't been widely discussed, likely because they paint a very different, very unflattering picture of the people involved. Once again, here's local pastor Eddie Thompson:

"The “Jena 6” have repeatedly been held up as heroes by much of the race-based community and called “innocent students” by the national media. Some of these students have reputations in Jena for intimidating and sometimes beating other students. They have vandalized and destroyed both school property and community property.

Some of the Jena 6 have been involved in crimes not only in LaSalle Parish but also in surrounding parishes. For the most part, coaches and other adults have prevented them from being held accountable for the reign of terror they have presided over in Jena. Despite intervention by adults wanting to give them chances due to their athletic potential, most of the Jena 6 have extensive juvenile records. Yet their parents keep insisting that their children have never been in trouble before.

These boys did not receive prejudicial treatment but received preferential treatment until things got out of hand."

Videos Spur Va. Appointee's Resignation
By Bob Lewis

A member of the state's Commission of Immigration resigned Thursday, a few hours after Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was told about online videos showing the appointee condemning Israel and advocating "the jihad way."

Kaine learned of the videos from a caller to his live monthly radio program and accepted the resignation of Dr. Esam S. Omeish about three hours later.

"Dr. Omeish is a respected physician and community leader, yet I have been made aware of certain statements he has made which concern me," Kaine said in a news release announcing the resignation.

The governor said Omeish resigned because he did not want the controversy to distract from the work of the 20-member commission appointed to study the effects of immigration and federal immigration policies on Virginia.

Omeish, who is president of the Muslim American Society and chief of the division of general surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, is shown in a video on YouTube denouncing an invasion of Lebanon by the "Israeli war machine" during an Aug. 12, 2006, rally in Washington.
He also accuses Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and says on the video that the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.

In a separate, undated video, Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area Muslims, "...you have learned the way, that you have known that the jihad way is the way to liberate your land." The video was credited to Investigative Project, a Washington-based organization that investigates radical Islamic organizations.

Omeish did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Mahdi Bray, a spokesman for the MAS, said Omeish was not available.

Omeish was among 10 appointments Kaine made on Aug. 2 to the panel created this year. The commission met in Richmond for the first time Tuesday.

Dems Have No Shame Or Conscience

Dems Have No Shame Or Conscience
Vasko Kohlmayer

Wednesday's Democrat debate no doubt bitterly disappointed many in the liberal base: None of their leading presidential candidates would pledge to withdraw from Iraq if elected.

"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," reasoned Hillary Rodham Clinton. "I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Barack Obama. "I cannot make that commitment," added John Edwards.

Yet in the meantime, these very same people are trying to do all they can to take us out while Bush is in office.

The reason behind their thinking is easy enough see. Democrats know all too well that a withdrawal would mean an ignominious defeat for the United States for which they would never take personal responsibility. At the same time, however, they would not mind at all if the defeat occurred under George W. Bush. In their economy, such an outcome would translate to their advantage, because it would seriously damage not only Bush but also Republicans at large. This in turn could translate into substantial electoral gains in the upcoming election cycle.

Think about what this means. Democrats would welcome America's defeat as long as it would result in their own political gain. Never mind that by suffering such a defeat America's standing in the world would receive a tremendous blow. Never mind that the thousands of brave American lives would have been lost in vain. Never mind that the subsequent slaughter would claim hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives. And never mind that our defeat would give Al Qaeda an unprecedented boost and a new base to operate from.

All this Democrats would happily allow to happen as long as the fall-out would redoubt to their benefit.

The degree to which these people are willing to play politics with the lives of their fellow citizens and their country's reputation and national security is breath-taking. They truly have no shame and apparently no conscience either.

Let everyone behold their disgusting spectacle. Let everyone behold American liberals.

We Stand With Canada

'Death to Canada'
Canadian Press

Kandahar, Afghanistan - Angry Afghans took to the street Wednesday chanting "death to Canada" and calling for foreign troops to go home following a series of raids on suspected insurgent homes.

Protesters said international soldiers killed a religious leader and his brother during the raids in Senjaray, a community on the outskirts of Kandahar city. It is in the Zhari district, a hotbed of Taliban activity west of the city.

"Death to Canada," some of the protesters chanted. "Death to foreigners."

However, the United States was the main target of the approximately 500 demonstrators who shut down a main highway out of Kandahar city around 7 a.m. local time.

Two dead bodies were seen at the side of the road as protesters voiced their anger.
"They're killing our young men," one protester told an interpreter for The Canadian Press.
"The day is not far when these innocent civilians will stand against NATO and other foreign troops."

Canadian military officials say neither Canada nor the International Security Assistance Force it is part of were involved in the raids overnight Tuesday.

Heeeeere's Annie!

Tase Him, Bro

Democrats should run Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for president. He's more coherent than Dennis Kucinich, he dresses like their base, he's more macho than John Edwards, and he's willing to show up at a forum where he might get one hostile question – unlike the current Democratic candidates for president who won't debate on Fox News Channel. He's not married to an impeached president, and the name "Mahmoud Ahmadinejad" is surely no more frightening than "B. Hussein Obama."

And liberals agree with Ahmadinejad on the issues! We know that because he was invited by an American university to speak on campus.

Contrary to all the blather about "free speech" surrounding Ahmadinejad's appearance at Columbia, universities in America do not invite speakers who do not perfectly mirror the political views of their America-hating faculties. Rather, they aggressively censor differing viewpoints and permit only a narrow category of speech on their campuses. Ask Larry Summers.

If a university invites someone to speak, you know the faculty agrees with the speaker. Maybe not the entire faculty. Some Columbia professors probably consider Ahmadinejad too moderate on Israel.

Another Colorado Disgrace

Boulder Students To Protest Pledge Of Allegiance
By Vanessa Miller

Boulder High School students are planning a protest against the Pledge of Allegiance in the courtyard of their school tomorrow morning.

Students with the activist club "Student Worker" organized the protest for 8:30 a.m., when the pledge is recited over the intercom.

They're concerned that it takes away from school time and that the phrase "one nation, under God" violates the separation of church and state, club President Emma Martens wrote in an e-mail.

"Boulder High has a highly diverse population, not all of whom believe in God, or One God," she wrote.

She said the group would rather the school hold the recitation — which the school must make available by state law — during lunch break, or at another time when students who don't participate wouldn't have to listen to it.

This is another Colorado disgrace. First, a northern college says 'F***-You' to the President of the United States--now THIS. Times have sure changed since I grew up there. At DU, they say the 'whole state is going to go blue soon'. That, as far as I can see, will NOT be to America's advantage.

Happy Sukkot To All My Jewish Readers...

The Festival of Sukkot begins on Tishri 15, the fifth day after Yom Kippur. It is quite a drastic transition, from one of the most solemn holidays in our year to one of the most joyous.

The word "Sukkot" means "booths," and refers to the temporary dwellings that we are commanded to live in during this holiday. The name of the holiday is frequently translated "The Feast of Tabernacles," which, like many translations of technical Jewish terms, isn't terribly useful unless you already know what the term is referring to. The Hebrew pronunciation of Sukkot is "Sue COAT," but is often pronounced as in Yiddish, to rhyme with "BOOK us."

Like Passover and Shavu'ot, Sukkot has a dual significance: historical and agricultural. The holiday commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert, living in temporary shelters. Sukkot is also a harvest festival, and is sometimes referred to as Chag Ha-Asif, the Festival of Ingathering.

In honor of the holiday's historical significance, we are commanded to dwell in temporary shelters, as our ancestors did in the wilderness. The commandment to "dwell" in a sukkah can be fulfilled by simply eating all of one's meals there; however, if the weather, climate, and one's health permit, one should live in the sukkah as much as possible, including sleeping in it.

It is common practice, and highly commendable, to decorate the sukkah. In the northeastern United States, Jews commonly hang dried squash and corn in the sukkah to decorate it, because these vegetables are readily available at that time for the American holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Building and decorating a sukkah is a fun, family project, much like decorating the Christmas tree is for Christians.

Many Americans, upon seeing a decorated sukkah for the first time, remark on how much the sukkah (and the holiday generally) reminds them of Thanksgiving. This is not entirely coincidental. Our American pilgrims, who originated the Thanksgiving holiday, were deeply religious people. When they were trying to find a way to express their thanks for their survival and for the harvest, they looked to the Bible for an appropriate way of celebrating and based their holiday in part on Sukkot.

Lawyer Sentenced for Terror Support to Teach at N.Y. University Conference

Lawyer Sentenced for Terror Support to Teach at N.Y. University Conference
FoxNews

A disbarred lawyer convicted of helping her client communicate with terrorists was scheduled to teach at a Long Island, N.Y., law school ethics conference, FederalReview.com reported.
Lynne Stewart, who was convicted in 2005 of providing material support to terrorists and received a 28-month sentence, was to speak at Hofstra Law School’s legal ethics conference, set for Oct. 14 to Oct. 16.

Her former client, sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, was sentenced to life in prison for plotting to blow up five New York landmarks and assassinate Egypt's president.

According to Hofstra’s Web site, conference speakers were expected to discuss "prosecutorial abuse, the challenges of representing prisoners at Guantanamo and attacks on lawyers who represent unpopular clients and causes."

I couldn't stand looking at Stewart's picture, so I had to change it to the school's logo... sorry for inflicting that on ya.

Conyers - Sharpton Eye Jena 6 Probe

Conyers - Sharpton Eye Jena 6 Probe
By Eric Pfeiffer

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr., appearing with the Rev. Al Sharpton by his side, said he will convene hearings to investigate the handling of the Jena 6 case and prosecutions of blacks nationwide.

"We're trying to put together an understanding of how we can present this to the American people," said Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, describing what he called a "miscarriage of justice" and the "circumstances of segregation that have been part of our legal system."

During a Capitol Hill press conference, Mr. Conyers, other members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and the family of one of the six black teens from Jena, La., charged with beating a white student said the blacks were dealt with too severely.

"If you can't understand Jena, you can't understand us. We are in jail because of who we are, not what we are," said Mr. Sharpton, who last week led a major protest in the town.
Martin Luther King III said the Jena 6 story could be used for good.

Ahmadinejad and the Suicidal Left

Ahmadinejad and the Suicidal Left
By Tony Blankley

Our Founding Fathers were wise to create a constitutional republic rather than a direct democracy. Although, given the caliber of many of our elected representatives — whose role it is to intermediate between the rashness of the public and the safety of the nation — it seems like rather thin protection. Nonetheless, we must be grateful for small blessings.

On Monday, the left-wing Daily Kos (as pointed out by the blog American Thinker, which apparently monitors that citadel of leftish chat so we don't have to) had the following entry from one of its readers:

"I know I'm a Jewish lesbian and he'd probably have me killed. But still, the guy (President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran) speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon…

Okay, I admit it. Part of it is that he just looks cuddly. Possibly cuddly enough to turn me straight. I think he kind of looks like Kermit the Frog. Sort of. With smaller eyes. But that's not all…

I want to be very clear. There are certainly many things about Ahmadinejad that I abhor — locking up dissidents, executing gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy. Even still, I can't help but be turned on by his frank rhetoric calling out the horrors of the Bush Administration and, for that matter, generations of US foreign policing preceding."

While some people might view this as merely an extreme case of Bush derangement syndrome, it is even worse. After all, the writer is able to articulate that while Ahmadinejad would kill people like her, she nonetheless finds him cute and appealing because he speaks with "frank rhetoric," not merely about Bush, but regarding generations of U.S. foreign policy.

This is a telling example of the state of left-wing thought today. Even if, arguendo, one accepted the substantive objectives of left-wing thought as wise and true, it still is deranged to find appealing that which would kill you. Left-wing thought has become disconnected even from the left wing's own view of reality.

Dems' 'Fairy Dust' Energy Plan

Dems' 'Fairy Dust' Energy Plan
By Mackubin T. Owens

After the Democrats took control of Congress last year, party leaders said that one goal of the new majority was "to achieve energy independence, strengthen national security, grow our economy and create jobs, lower energy prices and begin to address global warming."

Yet the Democrats' energy bills do just the reverse - thwarting energy independence by taxing oil producers and keeping substantial reserves of oil and natural gas locked up, while favoring "fairy dust" alternative energy and fuel sources that won't be able to compete with oil and gas for decades (if ever).

Now that Congress' is back, a major order of business will be to iron out the differences between the House and Senate energy bills and bring the final version to the floor. But it will be a compromise between two sets of bad ideas.

The House bills, sponsored, respectively, by Reps. Charles Rangel and Nancy Pelosi, do nothing to increase oil and gas production in America - which is necessary if we're to reduce our dependence on imports. Indeed, they would make it more difficult to produce oil and gas, adding new limits on access to domestic reserves and raising costs to producers - by levying $16 billion in taxes on oil companies by repealing a tax credit for exploration, production and refining and by changing the tax treatment of overseas oil-related income.

The House's measures also raise false hopes by promoting the fiction that "renewable" energy sources such as wind, solar and biofuels can replace oil and gas in an economically viable manner any time soon, mandating that 20 percent of electricity be generated from renewable-energy sources.

Ahmadinejad, YES. U.S.A. Flag, NO

Banning the Flag in North Carolina
By Janet Levy--FPM

Sampson County, North Carolina, was established in 1784 by Scotch-Irish immigrants from Northern Ireland attracted to its rich farmland and flowing rivers. Although centrally located and accessible to every major area highway, Sampson County today is a quiet, rural community.

Its 61,000 inhabitants, 18 percent of whom live under the poverty line, are engaged primarily in agriculture, raising hogs, poultry and agricultural products within the county’s 950 square miles. Last week, a local Sampson County high school was thrust into the national limelight because of a ban against T-shirts with flags from any country, including the United States.

The controversy revealed that this sleepy hamlet in rural America is grappling with issues typically perceived as the exclusive province of diverse, urban centers. With a controversy that mirrors similar conflicts in cosmopolitan, metropolitan areas nationwide, Sampson County may actually be a microcosm of the nation, rather than a last bastion of traditional, American values. The longing for communities holding fast to old-fashioned values may actually be wishful, anachronistic fantasies of nostalgic Americans.

The reality, as indicated by Sampson County, is that small towns in the U.S. heartland and in rural areas like Sampson County confront the very same moral and cultural dilemmas that plague the rest of the country. Unfortunately, it appears these same communities fall prey to inaction and political correctness, just as in metro areas.

San Francisco Bans Marine Film

Marines Barred From Filming Commercial on Streets of San Francisco
FoxNews

They're the strong and the proud, but the Marines aren't free to stand on the streets of San Francisco.

The Silent Drill Platoon of the U.S. Marine Corps wasn't allowed to be filmed Sept. 11 on California Street in San Francisco for a segment of its new advertising campaign, a Marine spokesman told FOXNews.com.

Instead, the elite group took its austere display to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for the final segment of its "America's Marines" TV commercial. The group is on a two-month nationwide tour as part of the campaign.

Stefanie Coyote, the executive director of the San Francisco Film Commission, the group that denied the permit, was unavailable for comment Tuesday. Her office referred calls to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's press office, which did not immediately return a request for comment.

Coyote told KGO-TV that "traffic control was the issue."

A'Jad: 'Nuclear Issue of Iran Is Now Closed'

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: 'Nuclear Issue of Iran Is Now Closed'
FoxNews

Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Tuesday that Iran's disputed nuclear program is closed as a political issue and said Tehran will ignore a U.N. Security Council demand imposed by "arrogant powers" to curb its nuclear program.

Instead, he told world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly that Iran has decided to pursue the monitoring of its nuclear program "through its appropriate legal path," the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency.

When Ahmadinejad was ushered to the podium, the U.S. delegation walked out, leaving only a low-ranking note-taker to listen to his speech, which indirectly accused the United States and Israel of major human rights violations. State Department spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos said the U.S. wanted "to send him a powerful message."

The Iranian president spoke hours after French President Nicolas Sarkozy warned the assembly that allowing Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons would be an "unacceptable risk to stability in the region and in the world." In her talk, German Chancellor Angela Merkel threatened tougher sanctions against Iran.

Iran insists the program is purely peaceful, aimed solely at using nuclear reactors to generate electricity. But the United States and key European nations believe the program is a cover for an Iranian attempt to produce nuclear weapons.

Ahmadinejad has defied two Security Council resolutions demanding Iran suspend enrichment and imposing escalating sanctions on key figures and organizations involved in the nuclear program. He made clear in his speech that Iran did not intend to comply with them now.

MUST READ: The Jena Dodge

The Jena Dodge
By Heather MacDonald

Demonstrators and the media avoid the stubborn truths of black social breakdown.

Let’s assume the worst about Jena, Louisiana, and the charges of attempted murder brought against five black youths for beating a white student unconscious last December: that the district attorney’s indictments were motivated by rank racism, and that the racial tensions in this town of 3,000 are exclusively the product of white animus against blacks.

Does it follow that this latest object of frenzy on the media’s racism beat is emblematic of America’s judicial system or the state of race relations today? That is certainly what the ever-expanding army of racial victimologists and their media enablers would have you believe.

Since the Jena story became international news last week, the media, the advocates, and pandering politicians have erupted in an outpouring of seeming joy at the alleged proof—after so much diligent trolling for evidence—that America remains a racist country. Senator Hillary Clinton told the NAACP: “This case reminds us that the scales of justice are seriously out of balance when it comes to charging, sentencing, and punishing African Americans.” Senator Christopher Dodd declared that Jena reveals that “de facto segregation”—in the spirit of Jim Crow—“is still very real” in many parts of America. Britain’s Observer announced that Jena shows “how lightly sleep the demons of racial prejudice in America’s deep south.

” The New York Times has designated Jena “a high profile arena in the debate on racial bias in the judicial system”—a debate that perhaps not everyone was aware that we were having. J. Richard Cohen, president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, said: “I think a lot of people recognize that the criminal justice system grinds down people of color every day. Oftentimes, it’s nameless, it’s faceless. . . . People see Jena as the tip of the iceberg and ask: What lies beneath?” Needless to say, the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have vowed with Biblical thunder to avenge the Jena innocents and force America to own up to its mistreatment of blacks.

Al Qaeda Targets Our Schoolchildren
By Marc Sheppard

While Democrats prepare witless campaign slogans blaming Republicans for millions of children not protected by health insurance, al Qaeda's blatant threat to exterminate 2 million American kids remains unheeded. And it will likely continue to be, notwithstanding mounting evidence that there exists no peril on Earth our young need greater protection from today than merciless jihadist monsters.

Not lack of a national insurance plan. Not global warming. Not racial or cultural disparities. Not even the Patriot Act, any of its overplayed incursions into individual liberties, or any of the other countless silly and diaphanous liberal causes célèbres, but rather that which would abruptly and savagely end their innocent short lives.

Nearly 6 months have passed since I first challenged the inexcusable refusal by DHS and FBI authorities to publicly connect the obviously connectable dots representing an unnerving number of alarming events -- particularly in the wake of the Beslan school massacre. These include:

This Guy Needs To Go

Novice Congressman Needs To Be Relieved From Duty
By Lori Lowenthal Marcus

Congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA), a former US Navy Admiral, recently revealed that he is indifferent about the well-being of US veterans of the Iraq war, that he is either careless or clueless about domestic security concerns, and that he would be grateful if voters dumped him from office. The Democrat and Republican parties apparently do not think such actions warrant even running a viable candidate against Sestak.

Is it because Sestak has connections to the powerful Wahhabi Lobby that no one cares?

Sestak, along with 3 rabidly anti-US and anti-Semitic activists, were touted as the featured speakers at Philly CAIR's first annual fundraiser on posters and internet advertisements for the event. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, and some of its highest-level members have numerous documented connections to Hamas and its foreign funders, as well as a long history of concentrated and well-funded efforts to thwart security investigations of Muslim American terrorism suspects.

Jewish Hero Funded Hall Where Thug Will Speak
By Jordan Lite

WHEN IRANIAN DESPOT Mahmoud Ahmadinejad takes the stage at Columbia University today, it will be in a building funded by a billionaire Marine hero who gave generously to Jewish causes.
Alfred Lerner Hall, the main student center, was named for the late Jewish philanthropist who donated $25 million to the school.

It is an "obscenity" that the Iranian is speaking there, said Rabbi Gerald Skolnik of Forest Hills Jewish Center in Queens, to which Lerner also gave. "To have a Holocaust-denying, nuclear-aspiring hatemonger speaking in a hall that bears his name in the interest of 'free speech,' it's just the wrong person in the wrong place."

Lerner, who died in 2002 at 69, was born in Brooklyn to Russian immigrants. He was a 1955 Columbia graduate and a Marine pilot. He became chairman of MBNA Corp. and owned the Cleveland Browns football team. Lerner donated a fortune to the Cleveland Clinic and created a fund to help families of first responders killed on 9/11. He also gave generously to the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, which assists aging unsung heroes from World War II who helped save Jews during the Holocaust and educates teachers about the genocide.

I put this memorial up to honor Alfred Lerner--and to mark M. Ahmadinejad's departure from Columbia. Just so he knows where he was standing... A'jad was at Columbia a few minutes out of the year; our hero Alfred Lerner is there 24/7.
