The Shame Of the World That It Happened In the First Place...

Vandals Deface Berlin's Holocaust Memorial

Vandals scratched a swastika into one of the slabs of Berlin's Holocaust memorial, police said Sunday.

Security officers found the swastika Saturday morning, police said. The damage was swiftly repaired.

The memorial _ a vast field of more than 2,700 gray slabs situated close to the Brandenburg Gate in the heart of Berlin _ opened to the public in May 2005. Open around the clock, it drew some 3.5 million visitors in its first year, authorities said.

In a separate incident, a 42-year-old man was detained after he was seen painting a swastika on the facade of the Swiss Embassy in Berlin, police said.

PEACENIKS VS. RADICAL ISLAM:

FROM DU: Congressman Kucinich and the Party Of Peaceniks:

As the third week of Israeli attacks on Lebanon began, Congressman Kucinich appeared Wednesday morning on Democracy Now!, where Host Amy Goodman asked him about H. Con. Res. 450."It calls upon the President to seek an immediate cessation of the violence, to have the United States lead the way towards multiparty talks without any preconditions."

When asked about support for the resolution, Kucinich said, "Well, there's a couple dozen right now ... I’m hopeful that as the American public continue to watch, aghast at the violence that is occurring both in the Palestinian areas as well as throughout Lebanon, as well as the attacks that are continuing on Israel, that people all over will say, 'Look, it's time for the US to step in and say, "Stop this." Let's bring everyone together. Let's in the short term stop the violence; in the long term, bring about a negotiated settlement involving all parties.' "

Asked about the Israel shelling in South Lebanon that killed four U.N. peacekeepers, Kucinich responded, "I’m condemning the loss of life anywhere. There's a lot of innocent people being killed ... I just hope an investigation will not show that this was deliberate ... whether it was deliberate or accidental, the effect is the same: the loss of life of people who are trying to be in the service of peace."

"This shows you how urgent it is for the United States to change its course, to call for an immediate cessation of violence, to bring all the parties together, without preconditions, and such multiparty talks will be the path towards a long-term resolution. The US must recognize that we have to talk to one another ..."You know, Abraham Lincoln gave a speech in his second inaugural that I think is a template for diplomacy and dialogue. He said, "With malice towards none, with charity for all."

"I mean, we have to have the capacity of going past the rhetoric and overlooking the slights and finding a way to bring people together. That's the only way we can stop a widening war."

FROM DU: Hezbollah, Hezbollah Backers, and Iran:

The head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards called on his troops yesterday to "prepare themselves to get even" with Israel and the United States."

Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards and Basij should prepare themselves to get even with Zionists and Americans," General Yahya Rahim Safavi said."The supreme leader will announce the time for this," he said, referring to Iran's top cleric and commander-in-chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei."

"We have to keep this sacred hatred of the enemies of Islam alive in our hearts until the time of revenge comes," the general said."I hope our nation can one day avenge the blood of innocent people in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan," he said, adding: "I ask God to arouse the dignity of Muslims and destroy America, Israel and their associates."

Iran denied it was helping Hizbollah in its fight against Israel in Lebanon."We haven't deployed any forces there (Lebanon)," said Hamid Reza Asefi, spokesman of Iran's foreign ministry. "If we choose to give them future military support, we will announce it."

"We have no fear of Mr Bush and company."

International Relations 101:

Here Is the Beginning Of Wisdom: In A War Of Words, the Man With the Gun Always Wins
By Frank Miele

If you do not learn this lesson, you are guaranteed a short life or a foolish one. Does this mean violence is better than non-violence?

Heaven forbid. Violence is a curse upon the earth, and anyone who dies in passive Christ-like resistance to violent men is a martyr who should be remembered in our prayers.

But unless you want to be the martyr, who is just as dead despite being right, I advise you in all sincerity to either get out of the way of an angry man with a gun or shoot him first.

Shooting In Seattle

One Dead, 4 Hurt In Seattle Jewish Center Shooting

SEATTLE (Reuters) - At least five women were shot, one fatally, on Friday when a gunman opened fire at a Jewish organization in downtown Seattle, authorities said.

Police said they had arrested a single suspect in the shootings, but did not immediately identify the man. Several streets in the area were cordoned off and police could be searching for another suspect, according to media reports.

"We have five victims, all female, ranging from their early 20s to 40s, who have been brought to Harbor View (Medical Center)," hospital spokeswoman Pamela Steele said.

"They have sustained wounds to the knee, groin, abdomen and arm. Three of the five have been taken to the operating room," she said.

The shooting took place at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, which had helped organize a large rally last weekend to demonstrate support for Israel in its fight against Hizbollah.

Locals Not Amused By Cindy's Presence In Crawford

Cindy Sheehan Lies and Defrauds To Buy Land

Crawford- Anti-War Activist Cindy Sheehan is going to become a neighbor of President Bush, and local residents are not happy about the mess.

On the Gold Star Families For Peace website, Sheehan explained how Central Texas had grown on her. She now wants a permanent place where she and fellow protestors can go to demonstrate against President Bush.

Peace Supporter, Gerry Fonseca, says he purchased the 5-acre parcel, which cost more than $52,000. It was bought with the money frome her son, Casey's, life insurance policy.

"I doubt they would have sold her the property if she tried to buy it herself," said Foncseca.
"I feel deceived," said Celia Ramsey, who sold the land to Cindy Sheehan through a third party. She talked to News Channel 25 exclusively on the matter. "I would have never sold it to Sheehan. Nobody wants them here."

The Ramsey's claim Fonseca told them he was an evacuee from Hurricane Katrina.
Fonseca told News Channel 25 he "apologized to the Ramsey's for the inconvenience, but we (Gold Star Families For Peace) are going to do everything in our power to not disturb them."
Ramsey told News Channel 25, she plans on talking to a lawyer over the matter.

"I am very sad it came to this point where we had to buy a permanent home," said Sheehan. "I thought President Bush would have resigned by now. But I am happy about a permanent home in Crawford."

Anti-war protesters are scheduled to gather on the Sheehan property in August, when the president vacations in Crawford for the first couple of weeks next month.

Last fall, McLennan County Commissioners passed an ordinance, banning parking on roadways and other traffic and crowd control measures.

A lawsuit has been filed over the matter by Cindy Sheehan and fellow protestors, alleging the ruling by county commissioners violates their First Amendment rights.

The Absolute Unkindness, Hate, and Lunacy Of the Democrat Party

FROM DU: I'm Convinced Asshat Is the DEVIL...

No need to repeat why, it's been said enough. Any leader of the most powerful fucking country the world has ever seen who treats fellow human beings the way he does while professing a love of God has to be the fucking devil.

It reminds me of the movie Omen. The devil will come in the form of a political leader. This whole thing also reminds me of another movie whose name escapes me...

I think it was based on a book by Stephen King.. The Dead Zone maybe. The president is shown viewing the countryside of America that is a nuclear wasteland due to his incompetence. He ends up putting a bullet in his own head. I wish asshat would do it now, before it's too late. (Jamnt)

The Flip Side Of the Dip Side (What Is It About the Name "Dean"?)

John Dean: "We Have Returned To the Imperial Presidency"

LOS ANGELES - John Dean, the White House lawyer who famously helped blow the whistle on the Watergate scandal that drove Richard Nixon from office, says the country has returned to an "imperial presidency" that is putting the United States and the world at risk.

"Are we on the road to fascism?" he writes. "Clearly, we are not on that road yet. But it would not take much more misguided authoritarian leadership, or thoughtless following of such leaders, to find ourselves there."I am not sure which is more frightening," he adds, "another major terror attack or the response of authoritarian conservatives to that attack."

"We have returned to the imperial presidency," he said. "We have an unchecked presidency."

McKinney A.W.O.L.--AGAIN

McKinney Hit For Missing Vote On Voting Rights Act Amendment

Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s (D-Ga.) Democratic opponent is criticizing her for missing a vote on an amendment to a bill reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that opponents argued would have gutted the legislation.

“Once again, Representative McKinney was missing in action for a crucial vote. While her colleagues fought the good fight, she was planning for that evening’s festivities in New York. She let others carry the load and came in at the last minute to take credit for a fight already won,” DeKalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson Jr. said in a statement after he was informed about the missed vote.

It is unclear why McKinney might have been traveling to New York City; she did not respond to requests for comment.McKinney and Johnson, who are both black, will square off Monday in a debate in which Johnson is likely to highlight her missed vote. He forced a runoff election, scheduled for Aug. 8, by holding McKinney to 47 percent of the vote in last week’s three-way primary.

"Cut 'n' Run" Thinks He Has Somethin' To Say...

Kerry Knocks Bush On Handling Of Mideast Conflict

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D- Mass., who was in town Sunday to help Gov. Jennifer Granholm campaign for her re-election bid, took time to take a jab at the Bush administration for its lack of leadership in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict.

"If I was president, this wouldn't have happened," said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John's bar and grill in Detroit's Cass Corridor.

This asshat couldn't even get AMERICAN VOTERS to listen to him... What does he think he could possibly have to say to Hezbollah? He's got 'patsy' written all over him--they'd see him as nothing more than a laughingstock and they'd use him like they used Clinton.

The Dregs Of the D'RATS

All They Have "Left"

What an obnoxious, self-absorbed hateful little bunch of cannibals. "Hurry before the Republicans take our freedoms away'". What freedoms have they lost? The freedom to hate your own country and shout it from the roof tops, or on a blogsite--talk about obsession!

What are these kids going to do when President Bush leaves office? All that hate for the President that has fortified them all this time--their ''raison d'etre'', the locus of all that unifies them--will be gone. And then what? Will they just pick another Republican?

We conservatives are ''wrapped too tight emotionally''? The d'RATS who make those statement aren't wrapped at all! None of these kids have ever in their lives thought of ever doing anything positive or selfless for someone else other than themselves. At carping, bitching, complaining--in general being pugnacious, vitriolic, intolerant, and sometimes violent--they excel far ahead of any other political class!

Great rant! All the bitching, griping, and complaining the D'RATS have done this week is completely over the top. They don't know whether they want to keep Israel safe or if the President is dragging his feet, whether overhearing Bush say "shit" isn't big deal, or if they can squeeze political milage out of it, if they want to sleep with Hezbollah, or if they're content to let Helen Thomas merely make comments for them.

They're twisting and turning--hopping from one protest to the next--listening to Hillary, Ted, and the Screaming Doctor Dean. They don't know what's going on or how they feel about it--but they're quite sure it's all Bush's fault!

D'Rats--Paranoid About Their Own Precious DU!

FROM DU: I Think There May Be A "Glitch In the System"

I never noticed this before until it happened to my post (and it's not important, my post), but just an observation that I would like to point out.

I made a post....it had 3-4 recommendations for the "greatest page". It was combined with another post made earlier in the day (and since I never noticed it) have no idea how many/if any "recommendations" it had for the greatest page (meaning more/most people would see it).

Recommendations went back to 'zero' on the combined post. Since the combination had the first poster as 'top dog'/earliest'....I (nor anyone else) could "recommend" it for the greatest page b/c the time period had elasped.

Could this be a technique to keep important, yet somewhat obscure, topics from being seen by busy DU'ers?

Don't misunderstand. I'm not "calling anyone out". I'm just wondering/cynical about folks playing 'chess', when I think I'm playing 'checkers'. There used to be a "Ask the Administrators" section, which was done away with some time ago, where one could ask these things more privately, yet directly. Since it's gone, well... (Mind_your_head)

Maybe they're after THEIR Pulitzer! (And, given the state of libby media today, they'd probably get it!) What a bunch of egotists!

FROM DU: Freepers Extinct. All Other Republicans On the Endangered Species List

Those are some environmental headlines I'd like to see! Every time I see a thread in the environmental group at DU that has listed another extinct or endangered species, all I can think of is how I can't wait until the Republican species (they're definitely not Homo sapiens) is declared extinct.

I'm reminded of DeNiro's character in Taxi Driver when he says something like "one day a great rain will come and wash the scum from the face of the earth". Maybe we need something of biblical proportions to rid the planet of the cancer we know as repukes. Hopefully if there's a god, he's getting a plan together to do something about the filth.

I just wish he'd do it soon before they destroy the whole place for all of us. I look forward to the DU thread when somebody posts about watching fox news and seeing Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly and Neil Cavuto and Brit Hume and Ann Coulter all develop boils while they're on the air. The boils build up on their wretched faced until their heads pop open and little demons fly in from thin air and suck the blood from their bleeding stumps where their heads once were.

Red state progressives could run outside and watch their repuke neighbors being devoured by swarms of locusts. Now that would be cool! (Gato Moteado)

The Straight Dope On the President's "S" Word:

The Foulmouthed & Lying Clintons
by Reinhold Aman

Millions of cretinous and amoral Americans still admire Bill and Hillary Clinton, the two foulest amoral slimebags that have ever besmirched the White House. These two foulmouthed and lying psychopaths have been, and still are, blindly supported by masses of non-clinical morons, diehard Democrats, and whorish liberal journalists and their editors.

Lest you think I am a Republican, conservative, or member of the imaginary "vast right-wing conspiracy": I am an apolitical anti-politician. Because I despise blatantly lying politicians with all my guts, I am presenting this uncensored record of some of the foul language used by these two parasitical pieces of putrid puke that have lived off the taxpayers of Arkansas and the United States for many years -- thanks to partisan, knee-jerk or imbecilic supporters. Anyone who admires or supports those two amoral swine is just as amoral as they are.

Isn't THIS Just Too Bad?

Charles Taylor Unhappy With Jail Conditions In Hague

Charles Taylor is not happy about conditions in the Hague jail he was moved to last month, his lawyer said on Friday as the former Liberian president appeared in court for the first time since he left Sierra Leone.

Defense lawyer Karim Khan told the U.N.-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone, which will try Taylor for war crimes, that his client could not make phone calls as freely as he could in Freetown, lockdown hours were more draconian and he was unhappy about the food in the "rather Eurocentric" facility.

Kofi's Kumbaya

UN Peacekeepers Abandoned Their Own Babies

UN peacekeepers have abandoned at least 20 babies fathered with poverty-stricken Timorese women, an investigation has shown.
The UN investigation has also uncovered a culture of cover-up, in which babies born to peacekeepers and sex crimes committed by its personnel over seven years have been kept secret because of a "fear of shame and embarrassment".

A report on the investigation recommends that a policy of zero tolerance of sexual misconduct be enforced on UN staff.

The report reveals for the first time babies born to UN peacekeepers have been abandoned without financial support.

Their mothers have been stigmatised and in some cases ostracised by their communities.
Efforts by the UN to organise assistance for the women have failed.

D'RAT HATE WISH LIST:

FROM DU: Will Bush Leave Office Unscathed? No Censure/Impeachment?

--He may not end up in prison like he deserves, but I think something will happen to disgrace him forever. Hell he already is disgraced forever, so I would argue that he already has been scathed just not as badly as we would like. I don't know about impeachment, but I think a censure has a chance if there is a Democratic congress.

--If the dems take Congress, he's impeached toast. Otherwise, legacy will call him the worst president ever. He's a lazy, less than intelligent frat brat, and no way will history look at him kindly.

--If the 06 election goes better than 00, 04 then there will be a massive flurry of impeachments and reform. If not, there will be a collapse, then a revolution. Either way, Bush
will not finish his term of office, I believe.

--I'm rooting heavily for impeachment.

--Yes and no. I agree no censure and no impeachment (damn) but given his bizarre behavior, even for him, at the G8, I'm guessing some kind of breakdown and commitment. You pick the cause, but I speculate recreational pharmaceuticals, like Rush.

--He may not face any major scandal before he leaves office (in my darker moments I would add an "if he leaves office") but I think that the history books will widely remember him as one of the worst presidents we've ever had. I think he's going to make Nixon look like a hero.

--I wanted to make a "BRING BACK NIXON" bumper sticker.

--There's only one way I want him to leave. But it will never happen. (Pryderi)

ANN COULTER: Liberals--Born To Run

Liberals--Born To Run

I knew the events in the Middle East were big when the New York Times devoted nearly as much space to them as it did to a New York court ruling last week rejecting gay marriage.

Some have argued that Israel's response is disproportionate, which is actually correct: It wasn't nearly strong enough. I know this because there are parts of South Lebanon still standing.
Most Americans have been glued to their TV sets, transfixed by Israel's show of power, wondering, "Gee, why can't we do that?"

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Deansays that "what's going on in the Middle East today" wouldn't be happening if the Democrats were in power. Yes, if the Democrats were running things, our cities would be ash heaps and the state of Israel would have been wiped off the map by now.

But according to Dean, the Democrats would have the "moral authority that Bill Clintonhad" – no wait! keep reading – "when he brought together the Israelis and Palestinians." Clinton really brokered a Peace in Our Time with that deal – "our time" being a reference to that five-minute span during which he announced it. Yasser Arafat immediately backed out on all his promises and launched the second intifada.

The fact that Israel is able to launch an attack on Hezbollah today without instantly inciting a multination conflagration in the Middle East is proof of what Bush has accomplished. He has begun to create a moderate block of Arab leaders who are apparently not interested in becoming the next Saddam Hussein.

There's been no stock market crash, showing that the markets have confidence that Israel will deal appropriately with the problem and that it won't expand into World War III.

But liberals can never abandon the idea that we must soothe savage beasts with appeasement – whether they're dealing with murderers like Willie Horton or Islamic terrorists. Then the beast eats you.

There are only two choices with savages: fight or run. Democrats always want to run, but they dress it up in meaningless catchphrases like "diplomacy," "detente," "engagement," "multilateral engagement," "multilateral diplomacy," "containment" and "going to the U.N."
I guess they figure, "Hey, appeasement worked pretty well with... uh... wait, I know this one... ummm... tip of my tongue..."

Democrats like to talk tough, but you can never trap them into fighting. There is always an obscure objection to be raised in this particular instance – but in some future war they would be intrepid! One simply can't imagine what that war would be.

Democrats have never found a fight they couldn't run from.

On "Meet the Press" last month, Sen. Joe Biden was asked whether he would support military action against Iran if the Iranians were to go "full-speed-ahead with their program to build a nuclear bomb."

No, of course not. There is, Biden said, "no imminent threat at this point."

According to the Democrats, we can't attack Iran until we have signed affidavits establishing that it has nuclear weapons, but we also can't attack North Korea because it may already have nuclear weapons. The pattern that seems to be emerging is: "Don't ever attack anyone, ever, for any reason. Ever."

The Democrats are in a snit about North Korea having nukes, with Howard Dean saying Democrats are tougher on defense than the Republicans because since Bush has been president, North Korea has "quadrupled their nuclear weapons stash."

It wasn't that difficult. Clinton gave the North Koreans $4 billion to construct nuclear reactors in return for the savages promising not to use the reactors to build bombs. But oddly, despite this masterful triumph of "diplomacy," the savages did not respond with good behavior. Instead, they immediately set to work feverishly building nuclear weapons.

But that's another threat the Democrats do not think is yet ripe for action.

On "Meet the Press" last Sunday, Sen. Biden lightly dismissed the North Koreans, saying their "government's like an eighth-grader with a small bomb looking for attention" and that we "don't even have the intelligence community saying they're certain they have a nuclear weapon."

Is that the test? We need to have absolute certainty that the North Koreans have a nuclear weapon capable of hitting California with
Kim Jong-Il making a solemn promise to bomb the U.S. (and really giving us his word this time, no funny business) before we – we what? If they have a nuclear weapon, what do we do then? Is a worldwide thermonuclear war the one war Democrats would finally be willing to fight?

Democrats won't acknowledge the existence of "an imminent threat" anyplace in the world until a nuclear missile is 12 minutes from New York. And then we'll never have the satisfaction of saying "I told you so" because we'll all be dead.

Richard Cohen Is the Mistake:

ISRAEL IS NOT A MISTAKE: Why Richard Cohen Should Be Fired Today :

Suppose a famous columnist for the Washington Post wrote the following:

Black Harlem is a mistake. It just arose from Southern Blacks who migrated to New York City a century ago. It would be better if it never existed.

Or...

The Gay community of San Francisco is a mistake. It just came from hundreds of thousands of Gays moving to California to feel free to be themselves. Better if they were dead.

Or...

The country of Pakistan is a mistake. Four million people were killed in the Partition of 1948 to create a Muslim Pakistan. Now Pakistan has nukes and is a danger to India. It would be better had it never existed.

Or how about this?

Muslim-majority Lebanon is a mistake. Until a few decades ago, Lebanon was majority Christian. Better if they were all dead.

Or...

Two million Pakistani Londoners are a mistake. They should be in Lahore, where they belong.

Or...

Jewish New York is a mistake. The grandparents of today’s Jews should have stayed in Poland, Russia and Germany.

Such a famous WaPo columnist would be out of a job the next day. Just as Harvard’s President was fired simply for wondering in public why there are so few first-rate female mathematicians and Nobel-winning scientists.

But Richard Cohen still has his job today after writing

QUOTE: “The greatest mistake Israel could make at the moment is to forget that Israel itself is a mistake. ”

THIS MAN IS A DISGRACE.

Nothing Satisfies the Party Of Hate:

Bush Will Speak At NAACP Convention

After rebuffing the NAACP for five years, President Bush will speak at the annual convention of the oldest U.S. civil rights organization for the first time since taking office because he sees "a moment of opportunity," the White House said Tuesday. Bush was the first sitting president in decades not to address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

In typical fashion, the President is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. After griping about it every year he hasn't gone to their convention, the d'Rats at DU typically have nothing to offer but hate. They just make their party uglier and uglier--here's their reaction to the news:

--Hmmmf. This should be fun! Waiting and watching for this!

--I hope they boo his ass.

Cowardly d'Rats Show Themselves--Again

Hezbollah Attacks Israel and What the d'Rats Would DO

This week, the Weak have been going on chapter and verse about how, in the face of Hezbollah's attacks on Israel, they wish Bill Clinton or Prince Gore was president. The d'Rats bemoan the handling of the bombings and have posted over and over that President Bush has been asleep at the wheel and "isn't doing anything about it".

Of course, we know that this isn't true, but I was curious about what they thought Bill Clinton would do about it, or what they thought President Bush should do about it. Here are their posts (they deleted mine), and their answers from DU:

--None of this shit would have escalated the way it has. In fact, I believe that if Billy Boy was President, none of this shit would even be happening. He and his team, were fucking awesome. These criminal dip shits pale in comparison to what I saw with a Dem in power. Just imagine if we had a President and a Congress to back them....? Holy shit, no?!

--Where would Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry be right now? For that matter, what would George H.W. Bush be doing right now? Instead, the Middle East is bleeding to death; there is open warfare between the two free-est and most democratic countries in the Middle East. And the U.S. government is M.I.A.

--Assuming (a huge assumption) everything else is to the point it is today in the ME, Bush should:Be Presidential, not whacking himself and offering unintelligible blurbs about "right to defend, but show restraint." He should he a diplomat. He should immediately dispatch those whose jobs are to be diplomatic in such situations to, well, do their damn jobs. He should lead.

Specifically, what would Clinton/Gore/Kerry do, or what do you think George W. Bush should do?

--Clinton is a Diplomat. Diplomacy would have been at the top of his agenda, I'm sure of it.

--That's one of the things he would have done. The fact of the matter is in the ME he wouldn't have stirred up people's emotions and given the extremists any recruiting ground.

--Clinton, Gore or Kerry rather. But definitively somebody who would care.

--Clinton, because he'd do everything right..unlike President Dumbya.

--He would have put SS in a "lock box", the environment would be better.

--HA HA, you're just not getting it are you?

--Bush should have stayed involved in active talks with the ME, unlike what did happen.

--Clinton had their respect, they listened to his DIPLOMACY, and they stopped killing each other for a while.

--Bringing in skilled, high-level career diplomats who know how to stroke the opposition to act as a fire-break would be a good first move.

--Fire anyone who demands respect from an organization that he previously derided.

--Camp David is not just a good place to eat B-B-Q and shoot quail. Carter and Clinton knew that and Carter and Clinton used that to the world's benefit.

--"Shut The Fuck Up, Mr. President. Don't leave the country, don't even leave your bedroom, don't go on camera, don't make comments about the world stage.

--We wouldn't have a deficit problem, 911 probably wouldn't have happened, if Clinton was president.

--How wouldn't it????

--For Starters, Einstein, Clinton Would NOT Have Insulted Hezzbollah!

--Oh sure, ask how a Dem would clean up a mess they didn't make.

--Clintion would ALREADY (immediately, as soon as the situation started) have people (if not himself) in the Mid-East trying to broker a cease fire.

--So what would Clinton do, have done, and keep doing:He would engage in discussions, mediate, and lead.

--He would've felt our pain.

--Maintain an effective dialog with the leaders of the ME countries and deny them moral justification to recklessly approach the brink as is being done now; much like he did in the nineties- a lesson well learned from Carter's effective approach.

--He would not have been banal and tiresome (and puzzling) when speaking, rather, he would have lifted up with words (while current leadership knows only how to tear down, and that's at it's best).

--He would have spoken on the world stage of hope and man's shared traits rather than "pig meat" and "Hezbollah's shit". He'd've realized that words have meaning and those meanings have consequences in every part of the world.

--He'd have the wisdom to know that it takes more than a big arsenal and U.S. flag-pins on your lapel to have a good democracy and effectively advertise that as a beacon to those who lack wisdom.

--A President Kucinich would have in place a Dept. of Peace already functioning.

--Let's get a real dem in office who will do the job-for the people they are elected to represent! Maybe Gore or Robert Kennedy Jr.! Or even someone like Michael Moore or Robert Redford!

--All this shit was what they planned to happen!!!

--They did answer your questions!! Freetard! If you're looking for a military answer then go sign up!

--Hey freeper, can you spell "everything" or "just" because you look like a fool. I'm sure this will be deleted, but I'm also sure as hell that you are a Freeper & will be tombstoned in a moment.

--Well, if he (Bush) slit his own throat, that'd be a start. I'd prefer it if he did Cheney in first, though.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php

So, this is what they best d'Rat minds have come up with! They want to piss and moan about Clinton/Gore/Kerry whoever not being President, they have few solutions of their own to offer--and if you call them on it, they shout "Freeper" and have you thrown off the board!

They are just a group of cowardly malcontents who want to wet their own bed and then complain of the stench. Everyday I'm with these people, my respect for them draws lower and they show themselves to be more and more childish.

They want President Bush to have a solution that THEY can't even conceptualize and they ignore the collective TWELVE years Clinton AND Carter had to solve problems--using their 'mahvelous' personalities--that they DIDN'T solve.

Their 'solutions' boil down to two things 1) cut 'n' run, or 2) be weally, weally nice to Hezbollah & Co.! (maybe even let 'em stay in the Lincoln bedroom!)

Soldier Fulfilling Promise To Deliver Afghani Rug To President Bush

MARION - Grayson Gile may have completed his broader mission in Afghanistan as a member of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force, but he returned stateside with a mission of a more personal nature. Gile's mission - one he chose to embrace - involves a very special rug handcrafted by an Afghan man anxious to show his gratitude to President George W. Bush for this country's efforts to bring democracy to Afghanistan.

Woe Is Dem...

The Democrats' Blame Game

When Bill Clinton dealt with Yasser Arafat not as the terrorist he was but as a legitimate leader he was not, the second intifada against Israel was born. Indeed, the Clinton approach to Middle East affairs is not one Democrats can be proud of. This approach nearly always strengthened the hand of the Islamists and the various Arab dictators, usually at the expense of American interests.

And yet it's a legacy top Democrats spent the weekend invoking, blaming the current conflict on the Bush administration. "If you think what's going on in the Middle East today would be going on if the Democrats were in control, it wouldn't, because we would have worked day after day after day to make sure we didn't get where we are today," said Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee. "We would have had the moral authority that Bill Clinton had when he brought together the Northern Irish and the IRA, when he brought together the Israelis and the Palestinians."

This is revisionism of the first order. The fact is that Israel and the United States have been paying the price of the Clinton administration's foolishness in trusting Yasser Arafat since. Channeling Mr. Dean, Sen. Christopher Dodd struck the same tone with a Sunday appearance on Fox News. "This administration, unfortunately, has seen the word diplomacy and negotiation as somehow a favor to your enemies," he said. This is nonsense, as Mr. Dodd, prodded by his host Chris Wallace, conceded when he ruled out negotiations with Iran.

Offering even more nonsense and less substance was Rep. Jane Harman, ranking member of the Select Intelligence Committee, who scolded the administration for not negotiating with Iran and blaming the American troubles with Syria on "the way we have been conducting ourselves in Iraq." Mrs. Harman, who probably knows better, pretends to have forgotten that Iranian, Syrian and Palestinian hostility toward Israel predated the invasion of Iraq by several decades and will no doubt long outlast the present difficulty.

But offering coherent solutions to the present crisis was not really the point. Some Democrats regard what's happening between Israel and Hezbollah as an opportunity to scrub up the party's bona fides on foreign policy. This means trying to invoke a mythical Clinton legacy and blaming everything bad on President Bush.

Oh Sure...

Clinton Says He Would Have Died For Israel

WASHINGTON: Former US President Bill Clinton who many Arab thoughts was more even-handed on the Palestine question than his predecessors shocked many when he asserted in Toronto last week that had Israel been attacked by Iraq or Iran during his presidency, he would have been ready to “grab a rifle, get in a ditch and fight and die.”

“The Israelis know that if the Iraqi or the Iranian army came across the Jordan River, I would personally grab a rifle, get in a ditch, and fight and die,” Clinton told the crowd at a fund-raising event for a Toronto Jewish charity Monday.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/print.asp?page=2002%5C08%5C04%5Cstory_4-8-2002_pg1_6

Yes, the Clintons' well-known love of the Jewish people stands out in stellar relief. Please! This jackass and laughingstock was not even willing to die for AMERICA. Let's remember how Mr. I'll-Die-For-You bugged-out to England when his draft/military service came up for Vietnam!

Perhaps, had such an eventuality occured, Yassir Arafat could've helped him pack his bags--he was at the White House (and, no doubt, in bed with him) more than Hillary...

Democrat Character Tells On Itself Once Again...

FROM DU: Dems Sink Themselves With Their Own "Swiftboating" Try

It's time to turn Rove's techniques against him. We should identify Bush's strengths and then Swift-Boat them.

One of Bush's strengths is with members of his Christian base, who for some reason believe that Bush represents their values. Democrats should come up with an astro-turf organization called Christian Soldiers for Truth. They should create commercials that would have testimonials as follows:

Speaker 1: 'Bush isn't really a Christian. He doesn't believe in any of the teachings. I've been going to his church for years, and he's never there. Bush doesn't believe in Jesus'.

Speaker 2: 'Bush talks a good talk, but he doesn't read the Bible. Just ask him any questions about the New Testament, you'll notice that he avoids the issue. He's never read it. I know because he's a member of my church'.

Speaker 3: 'Bush is a "fair weather" Christian. He acts the part when it suits him, but in fact he doesn't care about Christian values. In fact many of Bush's staff are gay even though he is supposedly against gay marriage'.

As with Karl Rove's techniques, it doesn't really matter whether any of this is true (although I personally believe that it is). All that is necessary is to repeat the message over and over.

One problem with this strategy is that it goes against Democratic tendencies to be the good guys, to always do the right thing no matter what. But we need to understand what we're up against and pull out all the stops. This administration is evil, and we need to assume in advance that the most underhanded techniques will be used, and beat them to the punch. (davidlynch)

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1649275

And THIS pack of lies and deception is from the "Good Guys"??? ("Good Guys" like 'Chucky' in Child's Play, maybe...Heidi-Ho!) Instead of trying to win fairly, it's only a trumped-up conversation and deliberate untruths they have as their weapons--and feeble weapons, by a feeble opponent--they are, too.

The d'Rats hadbetter get them some character and some better ideas--and they need to learn that "Swiftboating" really means hitting people with the truth!

Is this the party that wants to attract the religious base or the party that is standing up for gay rights (in-between trying to "out" them)--I can't tell...

D'Rat Cowardice In the Middle East:

FROM DU: The D'Rats DON'T Report For Duty:

Bush Refuses To Intervene, Some Rep. Senators Ask Him To Resign...

Am I naiive here ? My entire life, it's always been the sitting President's "duty" to call for a cease-fire/truce/peace in a war along with diplomacy. I am absolutely astonished that, so far, no one has seriously taken him to task publicly for being so insanely aloof. What is it going to take for Republican senators with intact brains to go to the White House and ask him to resign ? Yeah, I know we'd get Darth Cheney but at least we'd force him out of that damn bunker for a while. (steve2470)

What If... We Never Went To War In Gulf War One?

I heard a woman bring this concept up on KGO one night about 2 years ago. Had we not went to the Gulf War the first time under Pappy Bush, Bin Laden would not have been pissed enough to want to terrorize the U.S. That is WHY he bombed us several times he said. That we set soldiers on holy land. What would have happened if we had let Kuwait fight it's own war against Saddam? More than likely they would have still won with the help of Sandi Arabia. Nothing good has come out of us being there. Especially since Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and we attacked it pre-emptively. Now Isreal and other countries think it's ok to attack first. To End Terrorism, Unjust Military Occupation Must Stop

You want to end terrorism? End unjust military occupations. By all means have Syria conduct an orderly withdrawal from Lebanon if that is what the Lebanese public wants. But Israel needs to withdraw from the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, as well. The Israeli military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank must be ended. The Russian scorched earth policy in Chechnya needs to stop. Some just disposition of the Kashmir issue must be attained, and Indian enormities against Kashmiri Muslims must stop. The US needs to conduct an orderly and complete withdrawal from Iraq. And when all these military occupations end, there is some hope for a vast decrease in terrorism. People need a sense of autonomy and dignity, and occupation produces helplessness and humiliation. Humiliation is what causes terrorism. (cynatnite)

DU Boils Over With Hate:

FROM DU: What the Hell Man!?!?!? Bush Rejects Lebanon's Call For Cease Fire?!?!?!

Pig-boy rejects calls for a cease fire. Can I call him Pig-boy or is that Rove's nickname? How about Piggie? This pigman is going to hell. Straight to hell. The swine is not only a national embarrassment he is a global embarrassment. What can we do to see that his genes never again infect the gene pool? Let's hope that those two sows Jenna & Barbara never have children. I'm sorry, beg my pardon, Laura is the sow, I guess that makes Jenna and Barabara piglets. (Jara sang)

"The president is not going to make military decisions for Israel," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

Nothing satisfies these latter-day sixties-saints. If Bush mixes in politics around the world, they say he's being 'imperialistic'. If he does not, he's ignoring them. They're never satisfied--they just want to hate.

DON'T tell me they have any sort of character or ethics or kindness or sense!

Sixties Baby In A Bad Mooooooooooooood....

FROM DU: WAAAA, I WANNA FIGHT!

I'm aching for a real fight. You know. Brass knuckles. Bicycle chains. Zip guns. Rolls of quarters. Sharks and Jets.

Us against them.

Wimpy Dems? Just stay on the porch and watch as your boys kick some ass. We might be outgunned, but we will NOT be outmanned. Many more of us are pissed off than them.

I want to kick someone smack in the balls. I want broken noses and bloody mouths.

I know I'll get hit, too. But that's okay. I took it before and I'll take it again. I'm an old son of a bitch. Cunning and guile - and righteous anger - will go along with my still functioning arms and legs to make me victorious. This may be my last fight. But it will, BY GAWD, be my best fight.

Its time, people. No more 'reaching out'. No more bipartisanship. If that's what you want, then stay there. On the porch.

We MUST get it done and get it done now. This is a fight that is long overdue. This fight started in 1994. Newt. Remember him? 1994. Remember Richard Mellon Sciafe? Remember Ken Star? Remember them? They kicked our ass. Rove, Cheney, Bush? They just reaped the benefits of the '94 dustup. They're chumps. We can take them.

Paybacks are hell and I want to put a whole ton of hell on their asses.

Fuck 'nice'. Fuck 'fair'.

I REALLY want a fight. I want them DOWN.

Who's with me? (Husb2Sparkly)

Just like David Horowitz said in "Destructive Generation", these types want to always begin--and by first tearing down. I hear nothing about the middle of the journey, or the end. It's all about tacking some signs together, finding a meme to concentrate on, and launching their bitch.

What in the heck did they EVER accomplish that way? This nutbar sure ISN'T talking about Hizbollah, the terrorists, the muslims, the insurgents. WE'RE the only enemy to him.

Fighting Iraqis AND the Left

THIS Soldier Knows Who the Enemy Is

WEST UNION -- After about two years stateside, Aaron Wernz has grown a little frustrated with what he believes is jaded media coverage and politicization of the war in Iraq.

Wernz, who served as a specialist in the Illinois National Guard and was critically wounded in Iraq in February 2004, believes especially that the “goals” imposed on the U.S. military and the Iraqi people by the media and some politicians are unreasonable.

“I think they’ve kind of forgotten what war is,” said Wernz, 27. “War is when everything else is screwed up.”

Now a farmer near West Union, the Marshall native has closely followed the news since his return.
“I think the press gets a little bit down on our military over there,” Wernz said. “It seems there’s almost an element of the country that is rooting for us to lose.”

"Environmentalists" Sabotage Development Site

When the sudden appearance of an endangered flower halted a controversial housing project in the heart of California's wine country, the developer, Scott Schellinger, suspected he was the victim of a set-up.

Now, after calling in experts from the state's fish and game commission, who have backed his findings, he is claiming that the "discovery" of rare and protected Sebastopol meadowfoam on the eight-hectare site near San Francisco was the work of opponents who transplanted the flowers from elsewhere.

"It looked like a bad toupee," said one botanist, who observed the small, white flowers - latin name Limnanthes vinculans - growing through clods of "alien" soil.

The row has escalated into a scandal known as Foamgate. The controversy has parallels with the Tom Sharpe farce Blott on the Landscape, in which opponents of a motorway project employ a variety of ruses to stop construction.

Don't buy for a minute the canards of the "peace loving" Left. They are out to do us dirty--and do for themselves--just as they've always been. Besides being dishonest and sneaky, they'll say they were 'trying to save the earth'. They've managed to jettison their conscience in the service of a little dirty. This has ELF written all over it...

We Never Stop Paying For the '60's...

Today's Anti-American Leftists Betray Their Own Radical Heritage
By Michael Medved

Today’s militant leftists not only spread lies about America’s present but generate even more damaging distortions about the nation’s past – and in so doing differentiate themselves from the radical idealists of yesteryear.

Contemporary followers of Noam Chomsky and Ward Churchill view the entire American experience as a disgrace, even a crime. They stress the nation’s guilt in committing “genocide” against Native Americans, enslaving millions of Africans, stealing Mexican land, despoiling the pristine environment, oppressing working people everywhere, and blocking progressive change with an imperialist foreign policy.

One Jake Irvin of Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington recently told the Wall Street Journal: “My political belief is that the U.S. is a horrendous empire that needs to end.”

D'Rats Play "Ain't It Awful" ...Again...

FROM DU: George W. Bush Is Dead To Me

Everyone I know has had enough. Everyone I know is just about done. There is this threshold of happy deadened disgust, this point where the body simply resigns itself to the pain, a point where the disease, the poison has seeped so deeply into the bones that you just have to laugh and shrug it all off and go for a drink. Or 10.

One Of the Most Dangerous Nutjobs In the World:

'Remove the Zionist Regime'

Tehran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejed has called on Islamic countries to mobilise against Israel and ''remove'' the ''Zionist regime''. Speaking in Tehran on Saturday, at the opening of a two-day conference on security in Iraq, Ahmadinejed said: ''The basic problem in the Islamic world is the existence of the Zionist regime, and the Islamic world and the region must mobilise to remove this problem.''

Israel is a wonderful country that only wishes to be left alone. This warmongering insane-asylum refugee needs to be watched--and contained--if need be. His irrationality is absolutely unbelievable!

The "Peece Mom" Poison-Tongue Mouths On:

Third Day Of Hunger Strike: It Seems To Make Her Cranky

"George Bush is a dry drunk who runs our country like he ran all of his failed businesses - with an attitude that if he screws up, his daddy, or his daddy's friends, will bail him out. He has already said that the problem of Iraq will be solved by "future presidents" which absolves and excuses him from cleaning up the murderous mess that he has made.

George Bush and his daddy used their contacts to get him a spot in the Texas Air National Guard during Vietnam. When he was transferred to the Alabama Air National Guard he never showed up to complete his military commitment to the United States. Now I have no problem with Georgie, or "I had other priorities" five-deferment Dicky, getting out of going to the war crime in Vietnam, but to grow up and strong arm your way into the CIA to fix intelligence and to deceive a country and play on its fears to lead us into another war crime is inexcusable and cowardly.

We have already mentioned "5 Deferment Dick" and his Doctrine of the Insurgency Last Throes - what more can be said of the ungentlemanly conduct of our nation's shadow president? How about when he told Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont to go and "f**k" himself on the Senate floor? How about mistaking your best friend for a dove and shooting him in the face while allegedly intoxicated and waiting until 24 hours to report it so there would be no evidence of the intoxication?

How about the coincidence of the company that he used to run being awarded billions of no-bid contracts in the Iraq war crime? Just his ever present sneer with the raising of one eyebrow as if he is incessantly smelling something awful is distinctly ungentlemanly!" (Cindy Sheehan)

Ken Lay - Dead At 64

FROM DU: Their Reaction Is Utterly Predictable:

--Whaaaaa? That's just a tad bit too conveeeeenient, wouldn't you say?Somehow I can see Kenny Boy faking his death in order to live a carefree lifeon a private island in the South Seas. (peace frog)

--I don't celebrate the deaths of human beings. But I'm as happy as a puppy with two peckers that Ken Lay is dead. (Bornaginhooligan)

--This is so damn typical... how many people are so blind as to think that everyone connected to something sinister with a reason to expose it will just suddenly have a heart attack. One of the EASIEST types of deaths to induce. It is amazing how many rich and powerful guys have been disappearing, found dead, etc. in the last 7 years. (jasop)

--Heart Attack my ass! They are saying heart attack. I don't believe it for a minute. The lying coward committed suicide, I'll bet, probably by some drug. May he rot in hell. More likely the Bush Crime Family shut him up for good before he could 'negotiate' a lighter sentence by telling what he knows about King George. (peaches2003)

They are horrible people, happy in any Rightwinger's death--and seeing 'plots' everywhere.
